The question was deleted, I assume because of the person in question. I responded to his post with this..
you are basing your ideas on media coverage. Did you know pittbull breeds are NOT the #1 breed responsible for attacks and they scored higer than Goldens on ATTS tests this year.. http://www.atts.org/stats1.html You also might want to actually research statistics before making statments based on faulty premises. It helps to be knowledgable about what you are arguing about before sounding like you are merely ignorant. All life is precious the life of a dog is just as valuable as that of a human, the reason your friends dog is badly behaved is their fault and has nothing to do with breeding.. poor socialization, bad or no training are the dogs problem. If I could I would take that dog and show you how to train it.Cesar Millan took a pitty today who was dog aggressive and had him running around with 20 other dogs all fine, but he has knowledge, so many people do not and dogs suffer

The e-mail response..
Subject: hello stupid
Message: God said he created man to rule over the beast of the field and the fowl of the sky.humans have a spirit and a soul.your spirit goes to heaven or hell and your soul returns to the earth.animals only have a soul.people like you think its okay for you to abort a child and its wrong to kill a animal.do you eat meat because that cow has the same right to life as your dog.i sure hope you don't have children sense you think you dog has the same right to life as your child.as far as you saying it's the owners fault you are the stupid one.i told you this dog has had all the proper training.this dog was properly socialized growing up and it became more aggressive as it got older.i trained dogs for 10 years and just recently gave it up to go into law enforcement and have never had a dog that showed aggression toward a stranger unless it was protecting their territory which is what they was trained to do.

In the original post the person detailed that the dog would lunge at and bite at others while being walked, that does not indicate a well trained dog where I come from and aggression needs to be dealt with by the owner through training. As I mentioned Cesar Millan took a pitbull who did the same thing and brought him to the dog psychology centre and had him rehabilitated and his owner trained within a few weeks.

PS abortion had nothing to do with my question and I never mentioned it at all.

I completely understand your frustration. I am an american pit bull terrier owner and i know first-hand how ignorant, spiteful, and bull-headed people are about these dogs. Even though the APBT has accomplished so many great things throughout history, people still have it out for them and think they're born evil. Evil is strictly a human characteristic.
It seem like this prejudice will take years to overcome. Our government needs to crack down on irresponsible owners and blame them for not having their dogs under control! It's not the dogs' fault, they are what you make them. If you breed animals improperly or if you are an irresponsible owner, you're going to have a bad dog. It's not the dogs' fault that their owners and/or breeders are jack asses and don't know what the heck they're doing! A lot of people just don't understand that owning these dogs should be taken very seriously. They undoubtedly have the potential of becoming a deadly weapon if placed into the wrong hands, but this can be said for any large animal. Don't blame the breed, blame the bad owners and back yard breeders!
It's unfortunately that so many people like this guy can't grasp this concept and continually blame innocent animals for human irresponsibility.

People are ignorant and would rather blame a dogs behavior on the dog than fault themsevles for any wrong doing. I completely agree with you, and as Cesar says 'there are no bad dogs, only bad owners' I am the owner of a pit-sweetest dog in the entire world! He was dog agressive but we TRAINED him, many people buy a dog and expect it to behave a certain way without putting the time and effort into raising the animal the right way.
Many on here are nuts anyways, no offense to the majority of people who are honestly on here to help and give advice to those seeking answers.
I fully support your answer, an animals behavior has everything to do with the way it has been raised and trained and little to do with the breed.

No, you didn't deserve that.

Most people use "spirit" and "soul" interchangably, referring to humans as having a spirit/soul and a physical body. I'm not sure where this guy gets this terminology. Abortion has nothing to do with it. Yes, people like us DO eat cows....because we understand that in order to live, we have to eat. So do the cows, whales, zebras, caterpillars....all animals must eat. That does not mean we condone wanton killing, for pleasure. We use what we need, but we aren't pleased to kill the animals for us to live a little longer. It's a tradeoff thing....we kill sparingly because as he's so into pointing out, God created everything, making humans master over the animals....but that has nothing to do with us feeling they have a right to live in whatever manner they were created. Although if he really wants to get into it, the reason we eat animals is because Adam and Eve ate the forbidden fruit and lost the paradise of Eden....from that point on, humans were forced to kill animals and harvest the products of plants in order to eat. So yeah, how smart was that? Give up paradise for a life of hunting/gathering....I can't imagine this guy as a law enforcement officer.

I agree with you. It's possible that even though the dog has had "all proper training" there are deeper issues. Training doesn't mean it wasn't abused or possibly inbred to begin with. People with "trained" dogs may merely be using that as a cover for what they've really trained them for...a breed stereotype. And anyway, most "dangerous" pit bulls are other-dog aggressive...not people-aggressive...usually they subjugate themselves to humans, any humans. The only exception I could see would be unsupervised or unfamiliar children. Just ignore the jerk. Everyone is entitled to their opinion, so long as they respect that right in others....I think it's fair to say this person has pretty much given that up in favor of an "I'm always right" ego trip. Email me his/her screen name so I can write appropriate responses to further dumb questions/answers on his/her part. Thanx!

It reads as though you got someone who is a little sensitive about criticism. Also, having experience in training dogs does not mean you have the knowledge or skill on how to deal with dog aggression. Dogs have very complex behaviours and social structures, if we don't understand their language, no amount of training will help with out of control aggression problems. And when it comes to pitties, you have to be aware of one very important fact, they are a fighting breed, you need to know how to handle them.

You did not deserve that email and that person needs to apologize for their inappropriate comments and for being insulting to you.

No I don't think you deserve such an attack and I agree with you 100%. It's not any specific breed its all in the breeding itself and the way they are raised. It really irks me when someone makes comments indicating an animals life is not as valuable as a human, I guess some of us just have more respect and love for other species. Enough said, before I really get fired up!! LOL

I would say it is time for you to shut down the computer for an hour and not get involved anymore.......not mentally or emotionally. Sometimes there are subjects that you just can't talk about with other people ( sex, abortion, pets, taxes, politics......the list goes on). Unfortunately, these people know everything ( and if you don't think so , then just ask them). When you ask questions on this YahooAnswers website you are opening yourself up to all sorts of strange answers. Don't let it pull you down. Pretend you have just walked through a subway station and a stranger has jumped into your conversation with a friend. You would just keep on walking.........Time to do that now, Hon.

No you did not deserve the attack. Did you forward the email to yahoo or report it? Please do. I have an amstaff and agree with everything you said about the bully breeds. My guy is super sweet. Don't you just love it when you are in a pet catagory, talking about pets and people start in about babies and abortion? People should choose the correct catagory for their issues.

You are right too in that a well trained dog does not lunge at people or try to bite them. Even a TRAINED attack dog will only attack on command.

Hello, I dont believe you deserved a response quite like that but I guess he has the right to voice his opinion however I wouldnt have done it like that...lol Anyway I do agree with you about the upbringing of the animal. Breed does have something to do with their temperment but I do think that a person's touch has something to do with it as well. I myself wish I was a better trainer with my dogs, however they are all wonderful and they do not bite and they love other people. I have some of the most tempermental dog breeds and I have had success with them all. I have no training at all but I just teach them and love them and they respond quite well to that.
I have been very lucky. Good post though....have a great day!!!

Yahoo Answers is a public forum. You're going to get all kinds of people answering. Some are good ones and some are just out there to annoy people. Yahoo should look at changing its policies. Lots of people only state a personal opinion which most times is acceptable, but still get their posts removed becuz of losers that enjoy giving bad ratings.

No you did not--some people like to get on the(soap box) for attention--probably the only attention they get is on here!--I raise Dobies and they had the BAD reputation before the Pitts-the breeding and how people treat or handle them makes them what they turn out to be!! People have no business getting a protection type breed if they have no idea how to handle or train it!!! Pitts are like Dobies--they are kind--loving--intelligent animals with the right people!!
