It may take you a great deal of time and research to find out your answer. I have been working on my family genealogy for years, slow painful process.

There is actually a great web site for the Lewis and Clark expedition, including tracing ancestors of people on the expedition. Check out the link http://www.lewisandclark.org/?p=com_genealogy&n=genealogy

There is a book you can probably check out from your local library:

There is also a Lewis and Clark Genealogy blog http://genealogyblog.com/categories/lewis-clark/

You can also use sites like genealogy.com and ancestry.com to trace back your grandfather's lineage. There are census records dating back to the time following Lewis and Clark so you should be able to find your family in those records. You can also look online for historical records for the county your grandfather's family lived...

William Clark was the younger brother of the famous frontiersman and Revolutionary General George Rodgers Clark and friend of Thomas Jefferson. The Clark family roots where in the Albemarle County(home of T.J.) Charlottesville area of Virginia and later of Kentucky. There should be a lot on-line about the Clark family history and genealogy, because of their historical importance. If it's true it should not be hard to trace. At this point in history Clark descendants could live anywhere. Also try the Daughters of the American Revolution archieves, www.dar.org. They would have records of the genealogy of the Clark family on file. Wm. Clark was an officer during the Revolution

You can try www.ancestry.com. Or, you can look up the Mormon headquarters in Utah (Church of Latter Day Saints), which has a comprehensive geneology library and can share info with you. I'd be very surprised if they didn't have both the Lewis and Clark family trees in detail.

This page focuses on their families and ancestry. Of course, in order to be sure of YOUR possible connection, you will need to research your ancestors and find if and where you "connect".
