and Christians better damn well hope that their pastors (or whatever) bible-thumping leaders have correctly studied and informed them of the real meanings of scripture in the Bible. I mean think about it- how many do this all on their own. I was raised Catholic and the priest led the way to understanding this religion (which is exactly the same as christian with differences in dogma) but then all these years later, I find out that the man that us catholics put all our faith in turned out to be a lying, cheating, child molestor. and yet it was his explanation of the gospel, the bible, that led us on our path---and it was all a bunch of dogshit. You better make damn sure you're not following a false teacher of the word. It's like - one numnut to the next, you know?

True. Also if you believe there is a God you had better sure be right because religion breeds a refusal to attend to and resolve problems as whole goal is the afterlife anyway

Well - I must say - that sounds kind of threatening.
Have christians left off with the "Hell" thing? Or do they fall back on that when the original threats don't work?
There is nothing original about your statement.

The God I believe in is Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Faith is being sure of what you hope for and certain of what you cannot see.

Contra-wager:
If a loving and forgiving god exists and I believe, god will allow me to enter heaven, in which case my loss is nothing.
If a loving and forgiving god exists and I don't believe in this lifetime, I will be forgiven and still go to heaven and my loss is finite.
If a loving and forgiving god does not exist and I believe, I will have wasted my life in believing and my loss is infinite.
If a loving and forgiving god does not exist and I don't believe, then my loss will be nothing.
All things considered, wouldn't you have to conclude that it is best NOT to believe?
