Hi all,

Just wondering what you think of Chinese interracial relationships. I am Chinese, but born in North America. However, I always seem to fall for a girl that is not Chinese. Either Caucasian, african, indian, filipino, Hispanic.

I know it is getting more common for chinese women to date outside their race, but what about Chinese men?

I, as a white woman, am open to dating men outside my race, and have attracted and been attracted to Asian men in the past. White men/Asian women relationships seem to be much more prevalent in the U.S. than white women/Asian men pairings. I think it is due to stereotypes, and Asian men have a reputation of being very traditional when it comes to marriage/families.

White men don't have a problem with dating Asian women - some even say they see AW as white people, but they HATE when white women date outside their race. They absolutely don't see Asian men as white when they're dating white women. Big double standard. So, many white women are probably deterred by this and the stereotypes (ex. - Asian men are demanding, aren't good in bed) propogated by our white male-operated society. I think, though, as you start to see more and more white men dating Asians, white women will get into interracial dating more (for retaliation if anything else - many ww in areas w/high Asian populations are jealous of Asian women and are afraid of them tainting the sacred white race *eyeroll*).

Well I have a friend, a guy who likes an asian girl and its a first for him but I had some asian friends in high school and they were so great, I actually miss them.
As far as relationships, I think they can work wonderfully as any others really can.
I think you just have to be able to relate with each other well and have agreements on certain views for the long haul, and compromise and have understanding.

My thought? It's not a big deal - it shouldn't mean any more than a right-handed person dating a left-handed person, or a blonde dating a redhead.

Of course, with different cultures, you have to learn to cope with certain differences - but that's a cultural thing, not a racial one.

Don't worry about what's "common" or "normal". If you love her and she loves you, there's no reason why you'd have to let race stop you from having a relationship.

I'm also an ABC. Many of my highschool friends that are also ABC (male) have married outside the Chinese race, roughly 60% have married outside... I graduated in the class of 79'.

If the two people in question are happy, then I'm all for it. I think interracial relationships can be the start of true racial harmony, and maybe even one day help to erase racial tensions.

i really dont think you should be concerned with what other people think of who you date. It is your choice and if you are attracted to non chinese then go for it! dont let your race hold you back from what you want. (no one else does)

I think people who are half Asian with any other race are the most beautiful people in the world.. Keanu Reeves for example, so your children would be beautiful, its totally fine in my opinion.
