There is No way we can let them pull out of Iraq. Anyone know if this is final, or just stage one of a longer debate by demoscrats to cut and run before the job is done!! What a bunch of girls these anti-Iraq people are. I can bet dollars to doughnuts, most of them have never sacrificed themselves for their country. Or even been willing to be a real American. Makes me so sad, that my Dad, a 30 year combat pilot who fought in all the wars to protect the rights of these limp d's! God rest his Soul!
"WASHINGTON - A sharply divided House voted Friday to order President Bush to bring combat troops home from Iraq next year, a victory for Democrats in an epic war-powers struggle and Congress' boldest challenge yet to the administration's policy."

It's not final. It still has to go to the Senate, where it is expected to fail. In any event, Bush has already said he'll veto the bill if it hits his desk.

This is politics as usual. The dems know it doesn't have enough support in the Senate, and that Bush will veto it. They already got the effect they wanted, headlines saying they passed a bill requiring withdrawal. They already know the outcome will be failure of that part of the bill, but they can then use this in 2008 saying, "we put in a timetable but the evil R's stopped it." Someone has already said it, but those who advocate withdrawal always fall back on the position of "we should have never been there." That may be true, but we are, so it brings up the moral imperative that those in the withdrawal camp can't face...If we withdraw and a million (or more) people die in mass genocide, can you accept responsibility for that? Is that success? What will be bred from the people that are left behind? How will it affect the marginally stable neighboring countries or the global economy when petroleum production falls dramatically?
Put aside politics. It is a tough situation that will not have an easy solution. There will not be a "victory" date and we should not cut and run either. The solution certainly will have to be multinational and diplomatic (excluding Syria and Iran). When either party insists that it's either stay for a win or pull out immediately, they are dogging you into a polarized debate...they want Americans to think simplistically rather than face truly complex situations which blur political lines.

It's all hear-say!!! I hope they don't bring the troops home before my rotation is over.
Do you really think the Democrats want to withdrawl when the job isn't quite finish? How bad would they look once we withdrawl and sh!t just blows over hard in Iraq i.e. the Sunnis, Kurds, or Shiites (whichever is smaller) gets wiped out or terrorist/insurgent activities is on a 75/100/1000% increase. Other Middle East countries and surrounding countries that are "our allies" would turn away and say "F*ck you America" not that it's happening right now. Remember it was Congress that voted for the war, Bush just acted upon it.

Here we go again. EVEN BUSH has stopped using the "cut and run" phrases, 'cause HE knows that "it ain't workin no more". But, Those ancient republican religious zealots out there carry on those out of date phrases, to stir the pot more and more.
What kind of idiotic statement is that to make? Most of them have never sacrificed themselves for their country. That would mean that they are dead. So in order to be a good American, you have to die for your country? Sounds like that old JAP thing with the kamikaze pilots.
And you bring up what your Dad did. What did YOU do? Did you serve in the military? I doubt it. Not as long as you can lean on your Dad's reputation.
And, in case you don't realize it, the job will NEVER be "done" as you put it. The people of Iraq and for that matter for most of the middle east have been fighting each other for thousands of years. Do you honestly think that if America sends in another 20,000 soldiers (of which you are Not one), that the fighting will somehow just magically disappear?
It's time to wake up and learn. Terrorists don't play by the rules. They can hide underground, in plain site for years and years. Start all over in a year, ten years, or a hundred years. Are you suggesting that we stay there that long, just in case?
Why do you think that the FBI, Homeland Security and other federal agencies are so concerned about the "sleeper cells" of people in the US right now, are waiting for their chance to make a mark for themselves. You make me sad to know that there are people like you, that the brave soldiers have and are serving to protect your rights.

Still has to pass Senate, where there is even more opposition. They needed 218 votes that is what they got - so it barley passed. Not to mention President Bush plans on a veto. There is still hope!

Wow, how did you get ahold of Tony Snows talking points memo?
It basically gives Bush two choices. Accept the money and abide by the troop withdraw timetable, or not get any funding. But the requirements are pretty lose and basically force him to make progress in Iraq.
What do you consider the "job done" is? they have a government, Saddam is dead, and there are no WMDs. Job done right?

Sara ... Here's the root of the problem:
President Kennedy said in part, "...Ask what you can do for your country."
The problem is this: Over the past four decades, left wing Dems and other irresponsible politicians have mis-led their followers to think JFK said,
"Get all you can from your country."

thank you, send this question to the white house!! If more true PATRIOTS speak out, then we will finish what we started, but if the democrats are allowed to go jelly spined, then we will never be free of the taliban.
