I have been seeing a Chiropractor off and on for several years. I am very unhappy with the way their office works, and the treatment I have recieved. I have an exagerated S curve in my spine, one of my hips sits about a centimeter higher than the other, and the space between my discs are closing. (I am nineteen and apparently have the spine of a 40 year old.) One of my chiropractors said that it could have something to do with the medication I take for my thyroid, and suggested that I try an herbal treatment, but the thyroid problem is way too severe and I just can't do that. I was wondering if I should consult an osteopath about other treatments for my spine, or maybe just find another chiropractor?

Give it a try. Osteopathic medicine has actually been around longer than chiropractic. Not only that, but an osteopathic physician is actually a fully licensed doctor and can manage all aspects of your healthcare including your thyroid, not just manipulations like a chiropractor. Look in your yellow pages under osteopathic manipulative medicine or find any doctor with DO after their name and ask if they do OMM. You can also find them at any osteopathic medical school.

Chiropractic works - but if your chiropractor isn't doing the trick ... fire him/her. Find one who does. I can send a referral with a zip code (don't need anything other than zip).

If you have a scoliosis ... this is very hard to treat at your age. And my recommendation would depend on what severity you have in your curve.

BEST OF LUCK TO YOU!

See an orthopedist, and get rid of the chiropractor.

Stick with your thyroid medicine.
