I have got to lose weight. I'm about 40 lbs. overwieght and I'm young enough (25 year old) and active enough (excersice 3 times per week) that I can get off in a couple months if I try.

Only problem is, no matter how much I commit to changing my diet, I can't say no to sweets and fast food! By the time I get home from work it's usally late. I live alone so I don't really cook. I can go a couple days eating really healthy but then someone says, "you want to stop and get a burger, or order a pizza?" and I can't force myself to say no! I know it sounds stupid but it's really, really hard. It's getting to the point where I envy the willpower of girls with anorexia! I couldn't do it if I wanted to so that's not an issue, but I need to do something. Any suggestions to help me say no?!

When you go grocery shopping only get healthy food. For snacking bring home things like pretzels, fruit, or peanuts, celery and peanut butter-my favorite. And things like that. You can eat a whole bundle of fruit so you don't have to worry about eating too much of it. You do have to be a little more careful with the peanuts and pretzels and things like that...but you usually snack when you're bored so a handful of mixed nuts, will usually hold you over til your next meal.

You can go online to find quick 1 person meals so you don't go out. But if you have too...many fast food restaurants are selling more healthy food too. Wendy's has great ceaser salads and sandwiches. Arby's has market fresh sandwiches and a lot of other good wraps and stuff. I know it's hard to go to McDonalds and get a salad, but you'd be surprised how good they are. They may not be the healthiest salad, but it's better than a burger and fries.

One good thing I learned was....when you're on a diet and you mess up by eating something you shouldn't DON'T start over the next day...start over the next meal. It's ok to splurge every once in a great while!!!

If you eat 5-6 small, balanced meals a day, you won't crave junk-food. If you're hungry and someone asks you to have a burger, of course you'll have a burger!
Try cooking at weekends. Try finding some good healthy recepies online. I've been cooking for myself for over a year now, since my mom prepares totally fatty foods. You don't have to be Jamie Oliver to prepare yourself a nice, balanced, healthy dinner.
Throw away all sweets, potato chips and other rubbish from your fridge.
Drink 8 glasses of water a day.
Don't go to a food-store when you're hungry.
Learn to plan your meals. Always have fruit at home.
Try to find some nice sandwich bar near your work (like Subway, for example) where you can eat a healthy sandwich, or where you can buy a salad.
If you do have a pizza, have a small vegeterian one, or with seafood, but do this occasionally.
Don't eat burgers. One Big Mac (which is not really big, anyway) has more than 500 calories!

You can do it. :)

Count calories. Try to eat 1000 calories a day. You can now eat pizza. However, I would say to replace pop with water. Go try it. It works!! You can eat 240 calorie M&Ms too!!

How about those 440 Double Cheeseburgers at Mcdonald's? I understand. I would never be on a diet if I had to eat salads, and healthy stuff everyday. I believe I have lost about 30 pounds already on this diet. It's actually 700 calories, but yeah.

I have the same problem, or did. Im a 24 mom of a toddler and im really skinny now and I owe it all to my diet pills, Phentermine and a very low carb diet. I have found things sweet that i can eat that are low carb. Bc i am a huge chocoholic. either ask your doc for prescription or search online and order them. they are about $150 for 3months supply but are totally worth it.

it takes a lot but if you get through the first day, you will want to succeed another day, and then another, and soon enough you are liking feeling strong and efiant of your cravings, and then you lsoe some weight and that is that! It makes oyu feel proud

think of the pride you will feel when oyu stick to your diet for one day
it is better than anything you can taste! =)

I hear you fast food is too tempting.
What I did was when going to the grocery store ONLY bring home healthy foods, and no stopping at FF restaurants. The first week is tough but it gets better with time.

Sorry you have to make that choice yourself, no amount of well wishing from us is going to help you.

May I suggest if your BMI is over 27 that you consider a diet pill? We took Proactol and had great results as it binds to the fat that you eat and stops it from being absorbed by your intestines, so you should lose weight without changing your eating habits http://www.thefatbinder.com

But no diet pill is a solution forever, eventually you will need to modify your diet or exercise level.

turtlesongs@yahoo.com:

look at your mother and father. do you look like them? if you do; there is no problem.

you want to be slimmer? most of us, have to live in the body we are given. in my opinion (which doesn't count for much), you are bored and lonely. actually,we all are bored and lonely.

if you can walk for exercise on a daily basis, bend and stoop without shortness of breath, feel okay with every day, then you are better off than most americans.

"...Live with your body...!"

get a buddy to compete with.
take something to curb your appetite.
take something to give you more energy (you stop because you don't want to cook i.e. no energy for it...)
