I've stayed in Parkroyal Hotel in Penang recently..as far that i'm concerned, the hotel is a 4 star hotel...but when i went to their restaurant to have dinner..i almost chocked off looking at their exorbitant food price list!!! Can you ever imagine..for a just simple Nasi Lemak, Fried Rice or Fish & Chips will cost you RM40.00 nett/each dish and RM27.00 nett for a glass of an orange juice and the portion was so 'ciput' ( little) !!! my goodness!
i can go and eat at Mandarin Oriental Hotel or Ritz Carlton with less the price from Parkroyal!! Plus the waitress looks like never been fed and always with a sour face..
It was my worst dining experience ever!

so guys..how about you..mind sharing your dark experience over dining somewhere?? Coz this will help and guide us not to choose a wrong place to spend your hard earn money

I had a quite a few bad experience with quality of food, but if the quality of service was good, i might overlook if the food was of bad quality.
My worst experience was at Bodhi Tree. Bodhi tree located at no.1 jalan kamunting KL. (Behind sheraton imperial and kurnia insurance). It was a hot day, i was pregnant and hungry obviously. From the outside the restaurant look very welcoming. I ordered smoked salmon salad with balsamic dressing. As i waited for my salad, i noticed small roaches crawling about on the table. I mean, this restaurant is getting all the hype some time ago, most people say it's one of the best restaurant. Lunch time crowds are the professionals and expats. There i was staring at the roaches, i called the waitress and point out to her, she apologised and said it's normal. I looked around and saw roaches on the next table but the patrons were too busy digging into their plate to notice or they are just plain 'tidak apa'- dont care.
Then my long awaited smoked salmon salad came with some complimentary tiny flies hovering over it. Being a woman, i know that those tiny flies ONLY hovers rotten food and garbage bins (if u leave your rubbish overnight). The colour of the salmon are almost white. The smell was bad. I know balsamic vinegar smell funky but this salmon smelt rotten. I asked the waiter, what's with the complimentary flies? she laughed thinking i was trying to amuse her. I took a bite and true enough the salmon was stale and rotten. I called the waitress and told her about it. She took my plate back to the kitchen. Then the manager/owner came to my table with the plate earlier. She told me 'the salmon is fresh'. I told her, it isnt and i know what smoked salmon taste like. She opened her eyes wide and said in a higher pitch 'excuse me, smoked salmon sure taste funny, it's like that one!!'..(maybe because i look like a harmless malay, she thought that i dont know my salmon). I told her, i am a frequent traveller, and smoked salmon isnt suppose to taste like that...Then she ask me, so, what do u want now?'.. I told her i am not going to eat the salmon, she panicked and quickly ran to her husband behind the bar. Her husband told me the same thing, 'our smoke salmon is fresh'. Being pregnant and hungry, my hormones told me to flip the table right there and then but instead i got up, paid for the stupid salmon and left. I am not sure who the woman was, i think she is the owner. But u see, when u run a restaurant, customer is always right. If someone isnt happy, there must be something wrong somewhere. I will never go there again. They are rude, they serve rotten food and expect people to pay for it (constitutes to cheating dont u think?), and their restaurants are filthy. If u guys wanna try, go ahead but best of luck la...

Jules Verne in the Eiffel Tower in Paris. Bad service and arrogant hostess and staff. Not worth the money. Only for the American tourists. Don't go there when you are in Paris.
Try Le Cinq instead - Avenue George V near Louis Vuitton.

In Penang, I like Pepperoncino in The Golden Sands.

whoa! wtg barney! sometimes these people take advantage of the foreigners....my worst was at Sri Malaysia hotel...they only served nasi lemak and mee sup for b'fast and that was the complementary coupon by the hotel..they asked us to choose...then they only had coffee and orange juice, even that we had to choose, we were not allowed to have coffee and orang juice, one person is to only have 1 type of meal. This was so ridiculous....nasi lemak was too hot for the kids and to eat mee soup for breakfast is really not our taste..so we took the kids outside the hotel and had some nice roti canai with nice teh tarik !

My worst experience was in restaurant called 'Roy Rodgers' in Kuching, Sarawak. There was no customers and only 2 workers there and they had the disco music on so loud my son started crying and I had to complain.

I ordered the Sarawak pepper steak which came half an hour after my wife had finished her spaghetti bolonaise. It was paper thin and tasteless. The menu was a mess with items crossed out and the prices were also crossed out and had to ask how much everything was.

I asked how much is the steak and heard the cook shout out something like "It's orang putih wang bisar" (both of the boys looked about 18 years old) and tried to charged me RM80 for one steak. I scolded them back in the little BM that I know and they was very shocked I could speak their language and charged me RM 18 for the steak instead.

The waiter spent the entire evening starring at us with his mouth open until my wife told him how rude it is to stare. The place was dirty and smelly and little wonder 2 weeks later they had closed down!

The irony was that I met them both 2 weeks later when they came to my restaurant asking for a job and they had the shock of their lives when they saw that I was the boss, needless to say I didn't employ them!

I had the same experience in Parkroyal Penang where it costs 80 bucks plus for a jug of beer. They said they cater for mainly foreign tourists who don't have any problem with their prices.

California Pizza Kitchen. We ate here at the one in Ceasar Palace in Las vegas. It took forever and when the food came no one would eat it. The pizza looked like a burnt cracker and smelled like crap. I think california needs to leave the pizza making to Chicago and New York

i remember it like it was a day ago. it was in Batu 7, Kuching, i just cringe whenever anybody recomended to dine there. it was a family dinner of 7 people, my very pregnant sister wanted chicken rice so I ordered 2 from the next stall, there were many people so I had to make sure my order was accepted. I asked the lady to send to the table as I had to order food for my parents as well. As i had done that, I went back to our table and all of the meals had arrived safely, except mine and my sister's chicken rice. 30 minutes later after everyone had finished, i wondered about our meals. when i asked the lady she said they don't send meals to the next table cuz they had fight with the stall owner we chose to sat. i told her that was ridiculous (mengarut), i got mad as customer shouldn't get in the way of their stupid fights. she apologized but i was so hungry and taken pity of my sister so I order nasi goreng from our stall. my sister had eaten leftovers from my mom's meehoon sup. as i was eating, i chow down hard on something metal! when i took it out, i had the shock of my life that it was a 1/4 inch screw!!! i broke down and cried all the way even though my dad gave a hell to the owner and the cook! we vowed not to eat there! my dad actually kept the screw as a reminder of bad service!

one more in saberkas fast food restaurant on third floor i think, roaches of all sizes rule the tables !! yuck!

Pizza hut section 14 PJ.
The service is lousy. I went with my customer for lunch and they have this xpress lunch serve in 15 min or free on the next meal and we decided to go ahead with this offer.
We wait for 15 min before the waiter come to take our order. Already bad enough and the meal that we order took us almost 30 min. My customer and i was happy because we got our free next meal due to the food deliver more than 15 min.
We went to the cashier to pay for our food and claim our free meal voucher and this is their reply from the restaurant.
"Please do this to me" i know we are late and we promise to do it better.
and i told her, this the promotion for the xpress meal, if you late, mean you have to fulfill your promise to your customer. not that i want your free voucher badly but " if you cant promise, you dont promote".
After 15 min of argument they give me only 1 voucher unwillingly.
What a bad service.
the other thing that i dont like with "pizza hut" is, they give bad service to customers and we have to pay for the "10% service TAX".
That not fair! If the service is good i dont mind but it is really not worth paying for
