Buy fruit, like apples and orange, in bulk at the supermarket and throw one or two in at a time with your packed lunch.
Five bucks will cover you for a week there!
Also, you can get things like Macaroni and Cheese pretty cheap, prepare them the night before and put them in a plastic dish to take along.
Sandwiches are the obvious choice, and here you can get the lunch meat(s) of your choice, wheat bread, and some mayonnaise and/or mustard and make your sandwich the night before school.
Cheese is the greatest portable food!
For variety, you can get breakfast cereals, including granola type ones, in bulk and add a ziplock bag of that to munch on.
These willl carry you through times when other stuff has become too boring, unavailable, or too expensive.
Consider what you like to drink: If it's soda softdrinks, you can buy a six-pack of off-brand colas or other sodas for around $1.50!
If you like water, get a 1/2 gallon for under $1.50 and siphon some off into an empty 16 oz plastic bottle, rather than buying bottled water by the pint for a buck.
Make it a creative challenge for yourself to 'surprise' yourself with great pack lunch ideas :)
While you're at it, throw some 'soul food' into your lunch, too. How about some "I love me" notes? Everybody needs a little loving and encouragement. Plan to give it to yourself and be surprised by how much it can lift you up :)

With every day pass, our country is getting into more and more trouble. The inflation, unemployment and falling value of dollar are the main concern for our Government but authorities are just sleeping, they don’t want to face the fact. Media is also involve in it, they are force to stop showing the real economic situation to the people. I start getting more concern about my future as well as my family after watching the response of our Government for the people that affected by hurricane Katrina.
According to recent studies made by World Bank, the coming crisis will be far worse than initially predicted. So if you're already preparing for the crisis (or haven't started yet) make sure you watch this video at http://www.familysurvival.tv and discover the 4 BIG issues you'll have to deal with when the crisis hits, and how to solve them fast (before the disaster strikes your town!) without spending $1,000s on overrated items and useless survival books.

Plan on making enough dinner so you'll have some leftovers. Then put those leftovers into a plastic container of some kind (either each food into a separate, small container, or one of those with multiple compartments. Put it in the fridge over night so it won't spoil. Then next morning, put it all into a lunch kit of some kind (there are many styles to choose from) and into your book bag. During the course of the day, it will "thaw" out so when you pop it into the microwave in the cafeteria, it won't take too long to cook.
Or, you could but a bunch of inexpensive. frozen entrees. Put then in the fridge, like you should anyway. In the morning, wrap the box in an empty bread bag and take it with you. Again, during the course of the day, it will "thaw" out so when you pop it into the microwave in the cafeteria, it won't take too long to cook.

Always go with your basic food groups :) You can get cheap food that tastes great withought putting a lot of effort into it. Now if you're like me, I'd go to the nearest grocery store and stack up on soups, yogurts/jellos, crackers, vegie sticks, cheese, sandwhich meats, bread, anything that can go in a lunch box that's healthy. Don't forget liquids! Juice packs or a bottle of your favorite Nestea Ice Tea. Also, try bannanas or grapes, etc.

If you want to eat truly healthy, lose body fat consistently, normalize your blood pressure, cholesterol levels, prevent cancer, and even boost your brain health and energy levels, you may have heard all over the news that the Paleo Diet has been found to be one of the best methods of achieving all of these benefits compared to any other popular "fad" diets out there. Go here https://bitly.im/aMEmh
The truth is that the Paleo Diet will never be considered a fad because it's just simply the way that humans evolved to eat over approximately 2 million years. And eating in a similar fashion to our ancestors has been proven time and time again to offer amazing health benefits, including prevention of most diseases of civilization such as cancer, heart disease, alzheimers, and other chronic conditions that are mostly caused by poor diet and lifestyle. One of the biggest misunderstandings about the Paleo Diet is that it's a meat-eating diet, or a super low-carb diet. This is not true

Avoid the pre-packaged Lunchable type things -- the preservatives take out all of the nutritional value!
Get an insulated bag so you can carry things like egg salad and tuna salad sandwiches. Make yourself a nice fresh salad with chicken breast strips and a nice dressing. Or a fruit salad with yogurt or cottage cheese. Even leftover pizza from last night can go in, if you're not feeling creative!

I buy large bags of chips, pretzels, crackers the fill up some small snack bags. It's cheaper than buying the individual bags and there is a variety to choose from. Also fresh cut fruit can be done ahead of time.
