Give her some time to make up her mind... and if she doesn't want to go, ask someone else - but wait until nearer the time.

Was the question worded confusingly? Long time girlfriend or new gf? What you need to do is to wait a day - settle it down, then ask her again, but take your time and do it in private. Is there a chance you asked her like walking down the hallway at school or in front of a bunch of people? It could have come across wrong.
One other possibility I can think of - is there a chance she's not allowed to date and she's told you this or she's told you something about prom before and you've forgotten about it.

I'm sorry she didn't answer you. That sucks. It must be tough to get up the nerve to ask...and then not even get a straight answer. If she's your girlfriend and she didn't answer...that's not good. I'm gonna take a wild guess and say that she might not think that you guys are still going to be together by the time prom rolls around. Maybe she wants to go with someone else. Either way, your girlfriend is supposed to go to the prom with YOU...unless she promised someone else before you guys hooked up. You need to have a talk with her and see what's going on with the two of you. Good luck!

I always figured that if you are Boyfriend/Girlfriend, its automatically assumed that you would be going to Prom.
If she is having doubts, you should talk to her about it. Maybe her doubts stem from a more financial reason (like she's afraid it will cost too much) than a relationship reason. Or maybe she's just one of those people that don't buy into the commercialism of prom.
But if it is a relationship problem, you need to talk about it sooner rather than later so you can find a way to work it out or you're going to wind up going to the prom alone or not at all.

wel don't pressure her, if the prom is like tomorrow then i guess it's a no, but if it's in like a month than just wait for her. She's probably savoring the moment(s) that YOU asked her! so relax & pick out that tux that makes you strut your stuff!!!!!

just make sure she wants to go to prom and if she doesn't why? but me and my boyfriend aren't because we are going to have a night to our self. but don't think that she doesn't want to go with you it might just be she doesn't want to go.

Maybe she had someone else ask her too and she does not know who to go with.

well... she's your girlfriend, so she SHOULD go with you.

I'm assuming someone else has asked her, and she wants to go with them but still persue a relationship with you and not them.
