He realizes he is a heavy drinker, once in a big while he gets ugly and is verbally abusive..nothing else in 10 years
I've now left him and now he goes AA meetings and claims to change...I still love him but, I love me more...Now I don't know if that will work.
Guys ...have you been there? Advice.

Actions speak better than words. If you are really insecure about getting again into a relationship with him, dont do it. You might be taking a risk that is not worth it.

You are hot! A girl who admits she loves herself more than the guy.....

I'm a guy and I have dated AA woman and if you are not in that "culture", you're like a fish out of water.

They have their meetings and meetings after the meetings and all the "working the steps" and "doing life" mumbo jumbo. It gets old if the dude even stays sober.

Seriously, life would be easier to just meet someone without that life long affliction

Though Ive never been there, I do know that once your addicted to something, your always gonna be addicted to that thing. Also, no matter how old we get and no matter what we go through, we never get away from being who we truly are in terms of our character and core personality. If he was verbaly abusive to you before then he will be again. Im sorry but your way better off without him.

if he is goin to AA, and following the program, then hes gettin help for the drinking. if you still want to be with him, then tell him its gonna take some time to get to know him all over again. kinda like when you first met him. as long as he keeps with the program, he will change and be a better person.

Well, it all depends on your heart. Do you love him because you feel bad for him or do you love him because you really love him? If you want to pursue a relationship with him again, you're going to have to take things REALLY slow to be able to trust him. I don't believe you should not love someone because of their past, but you should love someone because of what he willl do in the future.

ALWAYS love yourself more. I wish I could underline the word always for you. I would give him another chance but remember that it takes awhile for them to REALIZE....anyone can claim to 'change'

I'll suggest you leave him, not worth your love for this type of man.
