To Lupa and all others who don't get it: There are a million creation myths and a lot involve a female divine character. In Egyptian mythology, I've read many times that this characters name was Ma'at. And that Isis represents another part of the feminine nature that's loving and/or forgiving. Resurrection, too. In Celtic mythology, there are different fertility goddesses but I came across the name Bridget many times. But, I think she's assoc. with the triple goddess aspect of maiden/mother/crone. Epona is assoc. with childbirth; she's a horse shaped goddess and is where we get the term 'nightmare'. I'm also aware that Norse mythology and Aztec/Mayan religions have their own fertility/creation goddesses (even if I can't think of the names); 'Gaia' was simply a name I guessed most would be familiar with.
Oh. I was considering using the name 'Sophia' which is from Gnostic mythology.

to Truth 6: My belief is that no single character could be solely one gender (even all female) and create. According to Bible mythology, God created nature, right? So, why doesn't nature show just a single being recreating all by his or herself? I have a problem with the concept of a singular being the creation deity, not necessarily male/female. Although, most reproductive traits seem to be feminine.

Funny thing about this is, in Genesis in Hebrew (note: I said in Hebrew... not Greek or English) the Holy Spirit is Feminine.... not Masculine. Throws a wrench in that whole thing that God is a He in the Bible......
If they would bother to look into the ancient Pagan writings concerning the beginning of the world, they would see that Genesis came from that... they simply placed their own God in where Pagan Gods and Goddess' were once written about.

Hooray, the pagans have become desperate enough to proselytize and try to convince people that they're right and those eevvvilllll Xtians are wrong!!!
Seriously, though--not even all pagans acknowledge Gaea:
http://community.livejournal.com/unnaturalpagans/profile
And pagans who follow a cultural tradition other than the Greek one may call the Earth Gaea, or anything at all. For that matter, the Egyptians saw the Earth as a *male* deity, Geb, and his consort, Nut, was the Sky Goddess.
There are also pagans who are atheistic but animistic, believing only in spirits, not deities.
So quit trying to shove your religion down someone else's throat. You don't like receiving that sort of treatment, so what makes you think you have the right to do it to anyone else?

There is but one almighty, life giving, all knowing, loving, merciful GOD. Anything else is idle worship. I may as well be worshipping a tree stump, a hunk of coal even with the capability to be a diamond. The one true God is a jealous God. You are either for him or against. You cant love one without hating the other if the one true God is all that good. So, natuarally Gaia who is what i'll say when compared to the King of all Kings.

Heh. It's amazing how many Christians completely missed the point of your question.
You get a star.
EDITED TO ADD: And apparently some Pagans too. *looks at Lupa*

My son was conceived over 24 years ago in a town in Mississippi not on Mt Olympus. The only God that I believe in is the God of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. So, the only goddess present at his birth was me the domestic goddess of my household. I am no diety, and I sure didn't feel like a goddess that day. So come on down from Olympus and join the rest of us mortals.

I wonder how many answered this question in knee jerk fashion?
Heck, how can you wake up in the morning and deny the existence of Gaia?

Simple, I don't believe in Gaia, I believe in God. It's the same with me not seeing life as a mirical of Buddha. I see my God, not yours.

I feel so sorry for them that they don't know HER love. I will burn incense and chant for them. It's so sad that they will not let HER into their hearts. If they would just choose to believe in HER they would know HER love. .
It's obvious that something this Natural comes from the EARTH, which, incidentally, DOES exist. SHE loves you, I hope you will someday know HER love in your heart.

Because she doesn't exist.
Are you a good person? What a question, most of us believe that we are good people because we can look around and find someone that is far worse than we are. We can always point to the things that we think make us a good person.
But how good are we really? Dare we take this test and look at ourselves and see if we really are good? Hmmm.
If you are willing try this and see just how good a person you are.
The Good Person Test.
How will you do? Pass or fail?
Have you ever told a lie?
Doesn't matter how big or small, just a lie.
What does that make you? Before answering think about this, if I told you a lie what would you call me? A liar?
Have you ever stolen anything? Cost doesn't matter, a piece of gum, failed to give back an ink pen that you borrowed, anything.
What does that make you?
Jesus said, "You know the saying of old, you shall not commit adultery but I say that if look at someone to lust after them you have committed adultery in your heart.
Have you ever lusted?
Jesus said that hate is equal to murder.
Have you ever hated anyone?
See one day we all are going to stand before a Holy God on Judgment Day and he is going to judge us based on His Holy Law, the Ten Commandments. These are just 4 of them and how did you do? Guilty? I have broken all of these and more, what about you? How well will you do on Judgment Day?
If we break just one point of God's Law we are guilty of breaking all the law and Gods Wrath abides upon us all. Based on God's Law we are all guilty and all are deserving of punishment. But there is an out for us.
Jesus paid the price for each one of us, took on himself God's Wrath so we wouldn't have to face it on our own. Jesus was beaten, battered, bleed and died so we wouldn't have to face God's Wrath. He rose again so that we would life in his presence. Our crimes, His payment.
The real question is where will you stand on Judgment Day. Pay yourself or have it paid for you. Think about it.
