I just bought a 2007 Toyota Corolla brand new. I'm loving it so far (junked a tin heap 2005 Hyundai Accent). It has the standard 36/3yr b.2.b. and 5yr powertrain. I hope to drive it forever, no plans to trade in. I didn't get the salespitch on the extended warrantee because I said no right up front to the suggestion. Now I'm wondering. Does anyone know what it might cost and if it'd be worth it? I didn't get one on my Hyundai because it was over $800 and didn't plan on keeping the car more than five years anyway (only lasted two; it was awful!) Before that, I had a Nissan, bought used at three years old, and pretty much had no warranty at all an drove it for eight more years and 120,000 more miles paying for the occasional repair out of pocket. Does anyone know what the Corolla extended warranty might cost and if they think it would be worth it?

You don't need an extended warranty. You have just purchased one of the most reliable cars on Planet Earth...congratulations!

If you will rigidly follow the maint schedule to a "T" then I promise you there will be hundreds of thousands of miles of worry-free driving ahead of you!

Don't rev the engine up when it is cold, and don't let the car sit and idle for any longer than it has to. Prolong the engine life by using top quality oil, and change oil and filter right on schedule WITHOUT FAIL.

You will still be loving that baby at 300,000 - 400,000 miles. Trust me, I own Toyotas.

Extended warranties are never worth a dime. As long as you follow the reccomended manufacturer service in the Owners Manual your Corolla should last you a good 10 years worry free. The extended warranty costs can vary, a good rule of thumb when you go to the financing officer is to say NO to everything, you just bought a new car, and the factory warranty will be more than enough.

The extended warranty is well worth it to me. It may add a few dollars to your monthly payment but the peace of mind is priceless. Also, when you trade or sell the car the warranty is transferable or you can get a refund for the difference. I did this 2 years ago with my Nissan Altima. This is especially helpful with dealing with notoriously unreliable auto makers.

Now on the other hand, Toyotas are very reliable cars- probably the most reliable. Knowing that, you probably will be wasting your money on a warranty. If anything happens you can always charge it on a credit card. Lots cheaper than a monthly payment. My husband owned a Toyota pickup and all he ever fixed in 6 years was a broken belt.

It is a waste of money. You have driven a lot of miles but most cars especially toyotas or hondas do not have any major problems until the 105,000 mile marker. Extended warranties are there to line the pockets of the F and I guy selling them to you. Personally if you have the money why not put it towards paying the car off you save interest and your few more steps closer to not having a car note anyway goodluck

If you take good care of the Corolla, it will easily go 300,000 miles. That means regular oil changes, keeping scheduled cooling system and transmission maintenance.

To figure the value of an extended warranty, you have to take the cost and factor the time frame before you MIGHT collect and what will be paid.

My math tells me that they don't make sense. You have to ask why would anyone want to sell you an extended warranty if the math was in your favor. They sell them because the math is in their favor.

That Corolla is an excellent car that will last a long time with reasonable care. Jusst pay for them when they come up.

A Toyota Corolla is pretty reliable, the factory warranty is more than enough, extended warranties aren't worth the money because there are so many restrictions on repairs you end up paying most or all of the repair cost anyway.

For a Toytoa or Honda, as long as you follow the recomended service intervals as outlined in the owners manual, you should not have any problems with the car. Any that are bound to show up will do so during the standard warranty period. If you plan on absuing the car a little and doing some back road or offroad running then maybe its a good idea. But realistically, no they are essentially free money for the dealer.

I think your on the right track on probably not needing the EW. One reason one might want to purchase one would be if the vehicle had state of the art electronics, Nav, stability control, AWD, 4 wheel steering, etc, that could break.

You have till before your bumper to bumper warranty expires to purchse the EW. I have not at this time.

A Toyota EW can be purchased at 'any' Toy dealer.

No Warranty is worth it. If the NEW car needs a warranty it it proves the manufacturer does nt stand behind it!

I personally I think you would not need a ext. warranty for a TOYOTA. It is a Toyota :)
Save your $$$$ for small repairs in the distant future.
The service schedule is in the owners manual, follow it step by step and you will be just fine.
