Actually, it only takes about 6 months for the navel to heal. However, this piercing is one of the most angsty piercings I have ever gotten. I took mine out a little over a month after it was first pierced so I could try on a form-fitting dress, and the hole completely sealed itself over in the half hour I had it out. It's also INCREDIBLY prone to infection and irritation (lint becomes caught a lot easier and goes into the flesh tunnel, clothing catches on it constantly), so it'll be hard to hide from your parents if you cringe every time somebody hugs you. Talk to your piercer and see if he/she can start you off with a retainer (a clear piece of jewelry used to disguise the fact that you are pierced at all, commonly used for facial piercings) if you are really determined to get it. You really should wait until you are eighteen or just tell your parents.

Your parents WILL find out if you get your belly button pierced. It will take anywhere from four months to an entire YEAR for your navel piercing to completely heal - and you can't remove the ring until it's completely healed or it will close up.

There are some MAJOR risks to piercing your belly button. You could get an infection - and those can be pretty nasty with a navel piercing, a blood borne disease, or an allergic reaction to the jewelry. If any of these things happen and you can't see a doctor because your parents will find out, the condition WILL get worse, and you could end up with a very serious problem.

The risks aren't worth it - just wait until you have your parent's permission or are 18. How old are you anyways? Because if you're under 16 no piercer will touch your navel even with your parent's permission.

You won't be able to hide it from your parents and going behind their back about this is extremely disrespectful and rude. And even if you get it, they WILL find out. Parents are not nearly as dumb as most kids assume.

If you get the piercing, there jewelry MUST remain in the piercing until the area is FULLY healed which can take anywhere from 6 months to a year. Removing the jewelry before the piecing is healed can cause problems and prolong healing and even cause the piercing to close up.

Once healed, the jewelry should not be left out too long because the hole can start to shrink and close and if you tear the piercing while reinserting the jewelry, problems can arise from that.

On top of that, usually when you are hiding something, you neglect it and its not good to neglect a piercing. They can become infected and it can get serious.

For your safety and the sake of having parents who aren't furious with your behavior, just wait to get the piercing.

Like one of the above answerers said it has to be in at least about a year to fully heal without closing issues. But there are clear barbells and clear rings that are designed to hide it to a point but you will be able to see the hole still but barely. If you got a clear barbell you could always just change it to a metal one when your not around your parents. Hope this helps.

I certainly have 3 navel piercings and a nipple one, the nipple one is greater painful then the navel for beneficial. the subject with those piercings is they might have healing issues, like rejection. those are the places the place there is the main inflammation on the physique; once you place on clothing, bras, sleep... So once you get pierced, make beneficial to ask to have bio-rings it incredibly is implant graded so your physique accepts it greater advantageous. The nipple hurts greater because of the fact there is greater blood pass and greater nerve endings, yet the two between the piercings are extremely worth it.

You can't. Unless you want to get it repierced and that just sucks more and more each tie you do it and if you dont leave it in then it will get infected. Just wait a while until it is cool with your parents or until you are old enough. I waited till I was 18 before I got mine done and I am glad I did, because I was more careful after that and could take care of it better.

The ring has to be in for up to a year after the initial piercing, and after that you have an hour or so. Your best bet is to wait until you're eighteen, or until they let you do it, 'cause there's no way you're gonna be able to completely hide it.

Well my first ques. is are you 18 because if not most states are very strict about you having to be 18 when i was 17 i tried to get mine done and they said that my mom would have to bring id and i would as well and second thing is you have to keep it in for one year before you can take it out and even when it is out you can still tell u have a big whole in your belly button.

when you first get it done you need to leave it in for at least a few weeks. after that you should try not to leave it out for too long but you can leave it out for a couple hours.
as far as hiding it from your parents, belly is about the easiest one, just wear long shirts. how often are your parents really looking at your bare stomach anyways?

the navel takes about 1 year to heal, and you are not even supposed to take it out to change it until then....you should either talk them in to it, or wait until you are old enough for them to not tell you what you can do,
