Broken speedometer cable is where I would start looking first. That is the most common problem.

defenitely the speed meter cable.. (its cheap) speed sensor is just foe the speed limit govenor only.. means its still save to drive with a condition like yurs

either cable broken or sending unit gear in trans bad , very common ,not too much to repair,under 200$
