"where's the rope ?"
I have a light gauge cotton rope of about two feet in length that I have put about five knots into--- I will take this rope and hide it at the edge of some piece of furniture or just behind an opened door --- and I'll ask my male pug (Kufu)--- where's that rope ? He just simply LOVES this game--- he will hunt every single room in the house for it (the home is a little too big, really) And, when he finds it--- you would think he has won the American Idol runoffs !!!!!!!!!!!

If you have a large space near you (perhaps a park that you can let her off her leash) take her for a run, or just pay lots of attention to her. I have a 1 year old Bichon, and he's very clingy, a little bit like a child. He really likes attention, and doesn't mind laying on the floor while I brush him (usually difficult thing to do with a dog!) But sometimes, he likes to play ball and run around, so a good variety will keep your puppy interested. Especially a beautiful golden retriever, easy to please : )
Good luck!

I doubt that this will help you, but, my dog's favorite game to play with me is: "I've got the ball, see if you can catch me and take it!" I've bought two Jolly balls (the kind for horses) and after we played tug of war a couple of times, he chewed off the handles so I have nowhere to grab them! Then, whenever he sees me come out of the house, he will go get one of the balls and come in my direction. If I try to get the ball, he runs away. By the time I catch up to him, he's loosened his grip on the ball and I can knock it out of his mouth. We, then, race for it and if I get to it first I kick it like a soccer ball. If he gets there first, he bites down on it and takes off again. Sometimes, he accidentally kicks it himself and the race is on. He can play this game for an hour if I stay with it.

Hide and Seek with my ESS and catch with my Chow/mix. I want to see if the ESS has what it takes to be a "rescue dog" so I hide items for him throughout the house and he brings them to me. Spring is here so we will be training outside soon. My Chow/mix (also named Zoe) is 8 years old and loves catching, so we play catch. Your dog is a sporting dog so I would try the Hide and Seek game along with any other game that would induce his "hunting" instincts.

Here is a fun game.

If you have an old fishing rod, remove the hook and attach a balled up pair of socks. Cast off and then reel it back for your dog. They love chasing the socks and it is easy for you too.

We have stairs in my house and when I am going up them Havok likes to beat me to the top. When he gets there he hunkers down in the front but keeps his butt up in the air. I'll creep slowly up the stairs and he will bark at me. If I stomp or jump, he will jump too while keeping his stance. Its kind of like playing king of the hill. Once I get near the top I'll charge at him and he will take off running into the bedroom. I love this game!

Omg, i luv going outside playing games with my puppy. Theres the classic ball throw, the pull rope, or a chewy. Make up a game! My dog just does it on his own. its really cool.

My husband and I play "hide and seek" with her. He holds her and I hide. Then I call her and she comes to find me.

We play tug of war with old towels. We just knot both ends of it.

We hide treats or toys for her to find.

We teach her new tricks like bang! (she lies down, usually with a groan) or stay while watching a treat.

sometimes all that they need is a brain toy, kong, bone or the like to exercise their brains. But a good game of fetch is always a hit.

Most of the time, "Catch the ball". I throw the ball, and she goes after it. If that doesn't work, Give her nice long walks. My dog loves long walks.
