When I ride my mountain bike, I would like to do elevation for the trail that I did. This chart is shown when the stages begin in the tour l´france or another competition.

Google Earth Plus (with subscription) will work
also some Garmin GPS units come with the software already so you can download, save, and print the info in many different formats

There are several commercial "TOPO" programs available. The two best I have used are from DeLorme and National Geographic.
Both work similar, you mark your course and it will give you all the stats you want and more. Such as elevation change, distance, grade, and vertical profile plus much more.
Both can be found for less than $100 on Ebay or from REI.
