Why is it so hard for some people to talk about God in public places?

Lack of practice.

When I returned to the church ( I was like the prodigal daughter ), I had hard times saying Jesus in public. At Easter, I wanted a movie about "Jesus" and when I asked the dude at Blockbuster for a Jesus Movie, well, I turned red --- which in turn made the Blockbuster dude turn red. Now that I've practiced this more and more, it's normal and since I'm comfortable with it, many of the others I come across are too; however, I am polite and try to make them feel comfortable, and lessen God talk it makes them uneasy.
