A professional singer friend (my fiance is a professional musician but doesn't do this particular kind of 'gig')charged $75 per song for a funeral. This year his rates went up to $100 per song with a 2-song minimum. But that's for funerals. Weddings are MORE.
I don't see gouging people. But you don't want to undercut the other musicians who do this for a living.
And I get tired of the complaints that officiants & ministers charge so much for what they do. Yet they are the least paid of all the wedding expenses. And the thing is, you can't get married without us!

Okay, sorry. I'm off my soapbox, now. Get on some bridal sites that list your area. See what the going rate is and use that as a guide for what you should charge. You should also have in mind a set amount of mileage you're willing to travel before you incur extra expenses. Mine is a 50 mile radius from where I live, about an hour's drive.

I think if you start with $50 for the first song and $20 each additional song and charge $1.25 for every mile outside of 10 miles away from your home for travel expense.

I would say $75. You figure you are going to be tieing up about 2 hours for driving and half hour for the wedding so you are making more then $25 an hour for doing something you like to do.

I sang at an enexpected wedding over the summer, the ppl didn't know me from adam. LOL. But the bride's aunt knew me. I didn't know what to charge either since it was my first time ever doing this.So I didn't give her a price and she paid me 60.00 dollars and I went to the reception. I had a ball, and she (bride) was absolutely lovely as well as her husband.
