I am looking into getting a used '04 Liberty. The mileage is between 50,000 - 75,000. Are these cars long lasting or should I be concerned about the high mileage? Tips, suggestions, etc. ??

I bought an '03 new, and it has been a very dependable suv. Yes, the mileage could be better. It gets 17 in town, and 21 doing about 70mph on the interstate. I love the power of the 3.7 motor it has some punch. The offroad is very good, better than a car based suv....the liberty is more truck-like and heavy duty. The exterior looks good, and the interior is very well laid out. Mine has 50K and no problems of any kind. keep in mind some of the mechanicals were designed by Mercedes-Benz on these Jeeps - a very good record.

also -make sure you ask the seller if ball joints were ever replaced under warranty...this was a recall for some years.

That is a LOT of mileage on a car of that age. Jeep holds up well---we had a Cherokee for 10 years, but it took that long to get it in the 75,000 mile range, so I don't know ... I think maybe I'd look a little longer for one with less mileage.

Just like Mom said, "That's a lot of miles" the jeep was probably used as a business vehicle. I have jeeps that have over 200,000 hard miles on them and is still going strong, but I put most of those miles on them and know where they've been. There are a lot deals on jeeps out there, I'd keep looking, or use this feedback to get them to lower the price!!

Save yourself!

Do not buy any kind of a Jeep.

I have a friend who has a Liberty and he just put in a brand new transmission. Yikes!
