What do you know about this date? They say it is calculated as the date when the magnetic poles of the planet will reverse, and unusual things will happen (phisical, energetical phenomenons, changes in human conscience, also at phisical and spiritual level, will affect also animals and the nature and everything that surround us, not necessaryly all in a negative way). Also it has been told it will change time and the dimensions in the way we perceive them. Many speculations are made in religious, scientifical, and many other points of view that can be considered wierd.
I don't know if it is true, but i want to know what your opinion is.
Thank you

Several authors have predicted a special astrological/astronomical alignment between the Galactic center in the constellation of Sagittarius, the Winter Solstice point, and the open cluster of the Pleiades. Factually, the coincidence of the Winter Solstice point (due to the precession of the Equinoxes) and the galactic center is basically true.

December 21 - The Mesoamerican Long Count calendar used by the Maya civilization of pre-Columbian Mesoamerica completes its thirteenth b'ak'tun cycle since the calendar's mythical starting point (equivalent to 3114 BC August 11 in the proleptic Gregorian calendar, according to the "GMT-correlation" JDN= 584283). The Long Count b'ak'tun date of this starting point (13.0.0.0.0) is repeated, for the first time in a span of approximately 5,125 solar years. The significance of this period-ending to the pre-Columbian Maya themselves is unclear, and there is an incomplete inscription (Tortuguero Stela 6) which records this date. It is also to be found carved on the walls of the Temple of Inscriptions in Palenque, where it functions as a base date from which other dates are computed. However, it is conjectured that this may represent in the Maya belief system a transition from the current Creation world into the next. The December solstice for 2012 also occurs on this day. Some interpret the Mayan system to predict the beginning and/or end of a major cycle in history, the "end of the world," or the "dawning of a new age" on or around the period of time surrounding December 21, 2012.

The magnetic poles of the planet will reverse? What does that mean?

Well it'll be a leap year.

Alot of this has to deal with the Mayan calander, and when their last "world" ended and the new one is supposed to start again in 2012.

Here's a link to some of the thoughts on it.

It's the end of the Mayan calendar. People say it means the end of the world and all sorts of things. I think it's fun to pretend we can forsee the future even though we can't.
