My parents never taught me or my siblings how to speak a Ghanian dialect, and sometimes it makes me feel ashamed, and slightly embrassed. (Especially when we go on holiday). No matter how much we pleaded, their responce was,
'You dont have to learn a dialect, because everyone speaks English!!!
I feel that being a Ghanian is a big part of who I am, not being taught how to speak it is important to me and my siblings. We have all over compensated, we cant speak the language so we learn about the history and culture. Can anyone inform me of any books or places that I can learn to speak Twi or Ga in Surrey or London.
We would all appreciate the help. Thank you
