I feel like I'm eating too much food...but then again, I'm really worrried about food intake lately. So,yeah. I've just finished lunch and this is what i've eaten thus far today. Peach lowfat yogurt, 6 inch turkey sub with provalone cheese on white ( i knew i should have went for the wheat wrap...) and 6 ounces of iced tea. I'm planning on 2 cups of linguine with tomatoe sauce or butter and salt for dinner and then my usual 150 calorie protein shake after practice. Plus, much more water throne in there. I'm fairly active, with a basketball practice for 3 hours a day and then usually an hour on my own. What do you think? I'm just really worried about it.

Sweetie, you aren't eating enough. If you weren't practicing basketball 3 hours a day, your diet would be perfect. Eat some carbs after practice; not just protein. Have a cliff bar. Also, eat a better breakfast. Maybe, you can eat some whole grain cereal (wheaties or raisin bran), two pieces of whole wheat toast, lightly buttered, and orange juice. Eat the lowfat yogurt as a snack. I think that the turkey sub is perfect. Don't get the wrap because it cuts out carbs. Carbs, especially complex carbs are a very important part of a healthy diet. Basically, you should eat 60% carbs, 20% fat, and 20% protein. If you are eating a lot of protein(i.e. protein shakes)., make sure you drink plenty of water. Excess protein causes the liver to produce more ammonia, a toxic substance; consequenty, the kidneys are forced to produce more urea to diminish the ammonia. Urea is also somewhat toxic, so the best thing you can do is drink a lot of water to dilute the amount of urea in your system. Eat plenty of fiber (25 grams per day). The health benefits of fiber are amazing. Fiber, by binding with bile (a fat emulsifier), the liver is forced to use more of its cholesterol to produce more bile. Also, it helps maintain a feeling satiety (fullness), so you don't overeat. There are many other benefits as well.

I think you should eat a little more for breakfast, but keep it healthy. eat healthy things with no trans fats and no partially hydrogenated oils. Organic things are also good. Then just keep working out and doing activities and you should be fine. The only variable is your metabolism. So make food choices based upon activity and metabolism.

I wouldn't have that much pasta with no protein for dinner, is all. Plug it into a calorie calculator and you should be at or below caloric requirements for the day (especially given a high level of activity.)

PS - Where are your vegetables?

you aren't eating enough! No fruits no veggies! I wonder if you're even getting 1500 calories, and 3 hours of b-ball practice...yikes! Are you losing weight?
