We are getting a 9wk old choco lab pup in a few weeks, my boyfriend and I love the name Ivy for her, I think it is cute and different. But everyone besides us seems to hate it!!
Honest opinions, like it or not?

Great name. I don't know of a dog named Ivy, it would pretty original.
Try it out on the puppy for the first couple weeks, see if she takes to it. My dog took about 2 weeks to get used to the name 'Hawkeye' instead of 'Puppy'.
If you like the name, name her it, I think its a good idea. And chocolate labs are great dogs
Good luck!

First, let me say, congratulations on your beautiful new baby. I love the name Ivy. It's very unique, and different, and it's not one of the same old names, that you hear alot. I would not listen to some of these people. It's your dog, and you have every right, to name it what you like , and what you feel suits it. I would say, go for Ivy. Have fun and enjoy her.

A name for a dog is a hard task to complete...However its your dog. You have to like it...I think it's a great name. Dogs do respond better to certain letters in their names...For instance long "e" is one of them, at the end of a name.. Ivy....catch my drift...Keep the name.. I have a male boxer pup, brindle in color, I called him Tigger. Not everyone is pleased with the name....they were all saying to name him, Diesel, Bronx, ect...but Tigger was the name I felt suited him best...Striped like a tiger and as energetic as tigger from the cartoon...In life you are not always going to be able to please everyone...regardless of what you do...Please yourself....
Good luck and all the best

I have some friends that have a dog named Ivy...and we all LOVE the name. Regardless of what you name your new puppy, it's YOUR dog and should name her to suit yourself. Would you name a baby based on everyone else's opinion???

I like it...but it really only matters what you and your boyfriend like. Good Luck with Ivy.
A friend of mine who is a breeder just bought a pup and wanted to name him Kostalot but she was the only one that liked that name. I thought it was quite appropriate as she paid $1,500.00 for him.

isn't this your dog? Name it what you want. Ivy is a nice name. Don't be so easily influenced by people. If I see another Fido or Spike I'll scream. Kudos and the originality.

I think it is cute. I personally think it's good to have a different dog name that way people will remember the dog more. Like my dog's name is lucas, Not alot of people name their dog lucas so everybody remembers him!
