It seems to me the democrats are more concerned about a political victory in Congress, than they are a practical victory in Iraq with the silly and meaningless deadlines they want to force upon the Pentagon. Does this smack of aiding and abetting the enemy, or what, given the hostage taking of British troops ? Shouldn't we be ratcheting up rather phasing out?

The Democrats will wait until after we are attacked to do anything.

The only thing they are paying attention to is the next election - they could not care less about anything else.

No. It's not possible to shame the shameless.

Don't believe me, look what happened back in 1978 when Iran ransacked our embassy and took our diplomats hostage for 444 days. Jimmy Carter, Tip O'Neil, Bobby Byrd, the Democrat House and the Democrat Senate blamed America first.

UK and Iran will probably be butting heads soon but America may only be able to lend support with spec ops and some troops but I don't think we have the man power to fight again..........god I hope this isn't the carter debacle all over again.

Well, I have to go with coragryph's statements. He is correct.

Sadly, the only recourse left, which falls right in line with military dogma and is the next "logical" step with regard to nonexistent troops, the cash avail and the ideals of those "promoting" a war, is to drop the big one! Sorry.

You seem to fail to grasp basic constitutional principles.

Only Congress can declare war. Only Congress can decide to fund militiary action. Congress can make nearly any rules it wants for how the military is run. See Article I Section 8.

So, whether you like it or not, Congress has constitutional authority to do what it's doing in setting a time-table.

Besides, we don't even have the troop levels and resources to continue with the current Iraq debacle. We certainly don't have either the manpower or the money to start another war.

What I wonder more is how are we going to be able to handle Iran with us fighting in Iraq.
