Does anyone know where I can find the history of autism in America's public school system?

I have a speech to give regarding the history of autism in public schools. I have found a lot of information about disabilities in general (IDEA of 1997, ect) but I really need autism-specific information. I'm looking for documented cases of the first school districts to allow autistic students, the students' names if available. If anyone can refer me to a website or a book, I'd appreciate it so much!
