Try an accent wall... paint 3 walls a light color like a baby pink and then paint the accent wall a bright cheery pink. Make the accent wall the wall you put your TV on in your living room or in your bedroom the wall you put your bed against.

Or putting up chair rail and putting the brighter heavier color on the bottom lets say you choose green... paint the bright green under the chair rail and then use a lighter version of the same color above the chair rail.

I Live in a small house also, my walls are nuetral and I like to use color in my drapes or sheers, pillows, towels, bedspread, etc. Also if you get tired of the color it's easy to change. My sofa and loveseat are nuetral, but you could even get a bright sofa. Just coz your house is small you could still use color, it 's going to look good. Have fun with it!

that's fine, but keep the colors light. Dark colors tend to be heavy and overbearing. Pale shades of color will make the rooms feel airy and still let you have color. Use deeper shades in fabrics and woods. It's a nice look.

leave your paint color neutral and then go crazy with the color on all your accessories and furniture. I love painted furniture and you can mix and match colors. good luck!
