He is now trusting you with a key to his sancutary, his place of peace, so do nopt abuse it because this is a big step in the relationship process. He is letting you know that he trust you enough to give you a key to his apartment and that he is trying to commite more towards you and you alone.

In my experience, It means that your just not a girlfriend but a true formal girlfriend. He trust you and feel comptable to share his space with yours..He wants to take your relationship to the next level..Or it could be if he seeing how things are going to work out, for later in the future...a ring might not be long....Good luck...
