The last thing you want to do is retract your statement. The person with pending charges is going to take it out on you. Domestic Violence is very difficult to deal with, if a women can make it far enough to call the police then she shouldn't give up. Women who do call the police should be lucky that they made it that far, most women get killed. Most women being beaten by their husband or parnter think that it will all of a sudden stop one day or get better- the only way that happens if the women gets up and leaves.

If it was for domestic violence you can not retract the statement, and if you go and say that you lied about the statement you made in reference to domestic violence then you can be arrested for falsifying a police report. Plus if this guy did hit you then why do you want to retract the statement, he should be in jail and get convicted for domestic violence and you shouldn't be with him either.

You wish to retract because you lied...a felony I might add...or because you've had second thoughts because your husband/live in boyfriend or whomever vowed to the heavens and stars that he'd never lay hands on you again?
Struck once is an assurance it will occur again. Especially if its known that you retract statements. Sometimes people wonder why police get domestic violence calls and hate following through on them. This is the precise reason why. Either go through with it or don't call the police again. becuase...believe it or not your credibility in the eys of both the police and the courts is greatly diminished.
So..be cognizant of what this may do and good luck to you.

Don't.
If he's really hurt you, changing the statement will jeopardize any future statements you make...think about what will happen the next time he beats on you!
And by the way, filing a false police report is ILLEGAL.

Your attorney must file a Motion to Suppress your statement.
Good arguments for suppression revolve around you speaking before getting your Miranda rights or being coerced by the police without having a lawyer present. A good lawyer knows what to do.

What the first poster said. If you take it back, that will anger the police for wasting their time. You women do this all the time. You get beat, then tell the police to forget it only to get beat again. Stick with it and live a happy life.
