Unless the Brits were showing a hostile action against the Iranians, I believe this is a stupid action by Iran, and bad timing to be dotting I's and crossing T's !
Iran is pushing the UN to the brink. Once they cross that line, all hell will break loose ! Once the air clears, most of the middle east's problems will have been resolved, because Iran will have been neutered, Syria will have slithered back into it's hole, and Hezbollah will melt back into the civilian population.
Then, all we will need to deal with is al Quaeda !

Without being on the boat and KNOWING the precise location leads to all manner of speculation, or opinon. Any territory can be disputed by anyone at any time for any reason.
What matters NOW, is what will be done to get these ppl back. I'm sure many polticals will have opinions and such, and that is exactly what the iranians needed in order to introduce more players to their game. Otherwise, iran could have ignored these sailors and allowed them to "look" at the ship in question. If the ship wasn't doing something untoward then there was no issue. What we see here is a manipulation of "ideals" to intice others into a "dialog" from which only more disparity will emerge. Fodder for the masses to debate over and, at the same time, allow a move closer to the real intention.

Bad move on Iran's part, regardless of the waters. They think we can't invade because we are "too busy". Wow, are they wrong! What makes me shudder about this is I remember my mother's family there being stuck in the Iran-Iraq conflict. I know the Iranian people do not want another war. The government is crazy.

All the evidence, of the Iraqi fishermen as well as the stopped freighter is that it happened in Iraqi waters. So, the Iranian war ships were actually invading Iraqi territory.

apparently they legally were in Iraqi waters, however the force that captured the Brits is considered a rouge element in the navy.
I think some one over there wants to start a fight and are waiting to see how far they can take it till it happens.
Than again there were reports last week indicating Iran wanted to take hostages.
I think this is a CF of epic proportions and if Iran really wants to play this game they are going to have a hell of a fight on their hands.
we can hope it was only a "misunderstanding"

Personally, I think the ship was in Iraqi seas, and the sailors were taken for political reason to pressure Britain and her people into doing what Iran wants.

If they weren't in Iranian waters, this is essentially an act of war against Britain.
