Can anyone help me. I have a 54 plate Ford Focus 1.6, seems last few days to run a bit poorly. Lacking a bit of power like I am having to depress the accelarator a bit more to get a response. And only now and again stutters very lightly. Any ideas before I sucumb to the garage??

Just another point, this morning the battery warning light did flicker on and then off. Got the battery checked and thats fine.

Hi

If this is happening from cold and lasting all the way to hot and then some, disconnect the wiring plug from the MAF sensor (located at the air filter housing) and then see if it restores all or any of the power.

Be prepared for the MIL lamp to illuminate afterwards and a fault code stating MAF circuit fault though, but don't worry about it, just reset it.

If this doesn't show any difference or the car runs worse then have the ECT (Engine Coolant Sensor) checked out.

Come to think of it, even if the MIL lamp isn't on now, it could have flashed on at some stage so it may be worth your while having the codes read out.

Cheers

Geordie

My mom in regulation has a concentration (not a wagon) and the only concern we've had with that is in case you don't get the gasoline cap on tight, the verify engine easy will come on and survive for extra or less 5 or 6 starts off once you tighten the cap. Very aggravating.

take you car to a garage and get a diagnostic, that will pin point the problem other wise you car shake a stick at the engine and throw new parts at the car and still need the thing fault code erased. diagnostic costs about £40 up

sounds like you need a pcm up date which means the car has a software problem which has to be done at a ford dealer.

could be the coil pack begining to fail, try a squirt of wd40 into each plug lead first though.
