Out of all the regulars, there have been about 5 or 6 who have talked to me on the phone.

These 5 or 6 would be "eyewitness" to the truth of me being a male. I can vouch that some of the people are male or that they are female.

My question is, since this is something you could verify yourself, ie . . you could call me yourself, is the eyewitness account of 5 or 6 other people considered testimony that the truth is that I am male?

---

Some claim a belief in the divinity of Jesus, based on eye witness accounts in the Bible. I personally do not believe this, and primarily because I can not verify the Jesus divinity, theres no 1-800 god number to call and get a person on the line, to complete my analogy.

---

Is it faith that I am who I say I am, or reliance on testimony.

Is there such a 1-800 number for the gods other people believe?

Extremely interested in pangel's answer if anyone sees her on 360 can you get her to answer please.

It takes a measure of faith to assume you even exist.

Yet, assuming you do.

Your tone of questions indicates you are male. Your 360 page and messages indicate you are male. The witness of others you do not know I've been corresponding with indicates you are male.

References you make indicate you are male. You consistently select male avatars and make "male-type" gender related remarks.

So I can deduce, from several sources, that you are either male, or a very, very thorough female imposter.

Now for the tough question - is there any evidence that I (Seimerthyr) am not Sean (Mayor, Spartan King... etc...)? Maybe that whole 36 hour thing was me trying to get a break from running two accounts.

A question only answerable by Sean (if he/she is not me) and some other's who I've emailed privately over the past few weeks.

Now to the other point - I have verified the validity of Jesus' claims independent of the bible - you might say "Gideon like". You can't have as many coincidences as I've seen run counter to what "naturally" should happen.

Even if your voice sounds male, that's not really a surefire way to be certain that you are a male. You could always have someone speak for you, or use voice changing software -- sure this would be alot of work just to convince others that you're a guy, but its not impossible. People have gone to greater lengths to equally trivial things.

I guess that I couldn't be entirely sure unless I saw that you physically fit the defintion of being a male with my own eyes. There are other things that could make me assume that you aren't lying about your gender, but nothing that could lead me to give a sworn statement attesting to you being a man.

Believing in something based on the eyewitness testimony of others is the same as having faith. There have probably been more "eyewitnesses" that will attest to the existence of Bigfoot, the Loch Ness Monster, Chupacabra and alien abduction than those who can say that they've *seen* god. However, we dismiss most of these things without thinking twice. Its all about who and what you choose to put your faith in.

I wouldnt accept it as evidence. You could be a broad with a really deep voice who successfully fooled 5-6 people... I also wouldnt accept speaking on the phone with you personally - you could mask your voice to me as well...

Eyewitness testimony is hearsay at best. Experiments have been conducted (one at my alma mater) in broad daylight where they had a "mugger" mug a lady on campus and run off. Police came and spoke with witnesses, who all reported seeing different things - different clothing descriptions, even different RACE descriptions. And, this occcurred right after the commisssion of the "crime" and people still got it wrong. The Gospels were written at their earliest 40-60 years AFTER the alleged incident.... Eyewitness testimony doesnt count for much in this person's view...

I really like this name! I don't know why so many people would say no. Maybe it's because it is sort of a popular name. But it is short and sweet, just how I like names to be. BQ: I like Sean the best, but if I had to choose another spelling, I guess it would be Shaun. I definitely do not like Shawn. BQ2: The name Sean makes me think of people I know named Sean!!!

The eyewitness accounts in today's world would hold more weight. The eyewitness accounts to Jesus' resurrection, for example, were not documented until over 60 years after his death. I'd say with that big of a lag, the story may have gotten a bit embellished.

I think it would be very interesting for you to find out how historical proof is obtained.
For instance, I expect you believe in the existance of Julius Caesar, of Napoleon Bonaparte, etc. even though you cannot call anyone on the phone who has been an eye-witness.
Historians have certain rules of evidence by which they verify the truth of something in the past.

It's faith. You could easily be using a voice changer and then the testimonies would be invalid, even though they believe you to be male. This would not stop the belief though, and the truth would remain independant of the witnesses.

Nothing has been proven, and what is available amounts to hearsay - not even enough to be regarded as circumstantial evidence.

I go to court and I am a juror. Takes 12 jurors to testify to the truth or false claims of the witnesses. Jesus had 12 disciples who testified that He was who He said He was. Jesus knocked Saul of Tarsus blind on the road to Damascus and changed his name to Paul and told Paul that he would suffer many things for the name of Jesus and Paul did. One encounter with Jesus is all it took and Paul was the greatest witness and spread the gospel of Jesus further than most of Jesus' original disciples. Today, the rocks cry out about Jesus. Archeology each day finds evidence of King David and the seals of Israel's kings and evidence in stone proving the Bible is true. Jesus said if man doesn't praise Him that the rocks will cry out. Whether you do it or not, God will be praised. It is all about God, not about us.

your analogy does not work because your so-called eyewitnesses are not "EYE" witnesses. They are only witnesses who could testify to the fact that they spoke to someone at some number, at a specific time and date, and this someone had a male voice.

In terms of the Gospels, there were in fact eyewitnesses who knew jesus, saw his cruficixion and death, and later witnessed that he was alive. The Apostle John was one such witness, and he wrote one of the four gospels.

You know what? Look up the definition of 'faith'. No there is no 800 #, nor was there a telephone around Jesus at the time. If you don't have anything else, have faith. People can live on faith alone whether they really have all the facts or not. That's what faith is. It gets you through lifes obstacles. You either have it - or you don't.
