OK SOME CORRECTIONS

China DID sign the Kyoto protocol and has no target obligation since its economy is still growing fast, unlike the ones in developped countries. For them, increased use of energy considerably improves their lives since it is to cover basic needs.

I personally calculated the chinese carbon intensity based on the purchase power parity (since with 1$ you can buy more in China...) and guess what ??? The US carbon intensity is very close to China or Brazil. Only the EU and Japan do 2x better and Scandinavian countries even 4x better.

Also China HAS NOT emitted yet by far as much as the US during the last decades, including the last one during which there is NO excuse since we were aware of the problem.

The intensity per capita in China is also lower and their relative limited resources make it more difficult for them than the US to solve the problem.

China is willing to act and set istelf an aggressive 20% intensity target for the next 5-years plan. While the GDP will grow by 45%, only 20% increase of greenhouse gases emissions will be allowed.

And China IS willing to set itself a target for the post-Kyoto period

I think we should boycott not just Chinese made goods but all goods from wherever there is not green initiatives in place. If a factory wants to operate it can use others forms of electricity from wind solar or bio diesel. Te people of this world have to make a stand and say we won't by your product unless you are an environmentally friendly business.
I don't think China signed the Kyoto accod.

The probably truth of the matter is that China has been
exceeding / surpassing US emissions for several years..

THe best way to get CHina to slow their polution is put a COmmunist dictator in. I doubt any one will support that. They are still not as bad as American. WE still produce far more per person. The only reason China pollutes is we put the factories their, because we outlawed our polluting factories. WE can't have our cake and eat it too. We either keep our jobs and deal with acid rain. Or give CHina the jobs and have them deal with the Acid rain. THe best way to stop this is help China become more efficient in its energy use.

Don't you know that all the environmental evils of the world are supposed to be because of the US?
