is this a simple repair, looks like it would be just removing the 4 bolts and replacing, but need to know if i should do anything additional when removing/replacing on the 1996 ranger truck.

Very easy. Disconnect the battery for a few minutes to reset the computer and just replace it.

Uh what 4 bolts?

There are only 2 bolts on the idle speed motor (unless it has extra stuff mounted to it, then it's 2 nuts and two screws)

basically the 2 screws, the connector and to make sure you put a new gasket when you change it....

and as the other guy said, disconnect the battery for about 5-10 minutes to reset what it learned.... that way it starts learning fresh with the new motor.
