The absolute maximum number of kicks anyone can do in one jump, taking off and landing on the same level surface without climbing on top of any objects i.e. the unlucky target, AND still have SOME level of practicality if even in a very specialized situation i.e. Knocking a samurai off his horse or to screw up an erstwhile opponent's rhythm/concentration/balance or humiliating some jerk that tries to sneak some fouls or even just to fake two and land one.....

....would be 3.

When ANYONE attempts such an awesome move, however, someone ends up losing a lot of face. Literally OR figuratively. If the kicker gets knocked out of the air like a goose he's going to look like a pansy that watched too much DBZ no matter how many black belts he's got. If the sap on the business end of the kicker's foot gets KTFO or even just rocked, he's going to be a walking talking (maybe not talking) highlight reel + the laughing stock of all who watch.

Not many people try it, of course, since you don't need to do such a move to get a KO or look cool and thus stick to more conservative and less risky means.

I'm sure there's some tae kwon joe out there that has the setup for such a number of aerials down to a science. I've never seen such a fighter just yet and I probably never will.

So don't go aspiring to use such a move in a fight as a martial hobbyist. Good as a sort of victory dance or flashy entrance warmup or exercise for balance, coordination and kicking speed.

I can do 4 with a double scissors kick.

A scissors kick starts where you jump up and front kick (with your back leg) and a back kick (with your front leg). The double comes while still in the air, you do the same thing with the opposite legs.

The "technique" is more flash/good exercise than anything else. Would work great in the movies!!!!

Note: It would also be the last thing I would do in a self defense situation. A minimally trained jujitsu student or any grappler could drive right through the first kick for an easy takedown.

About 16 years ago I did 3 on my 2nd degree black belt test when I was into Korean Karate. The past 10 years I've been into Kenpo Karate and hold a 2nd dan.

It depends on how deep/high the precipice is.

Generally -- ONE.
My martial art does not use jump kicks!

The longer you are in the air, the more vulnerable you are because you can not change your center of gravity or your trajectory (unless you push off of something / someone.)

Depends how tall the object is you are jumping off of.

I guess if you were jumping out of a plane you could do a lot of em.

One is all I need, and I dont plann on jumping to apply it either.

You should focus on how to win instead of whom has the fanciest flowery kick.

What? Why's it even matter? One well placed kick is all you need to knock someone out.
