I was wanting to know if anyone else did and how long it took? I mailed it out last Thursday (March 15th). I had to paper file instead of e-file, due to my ex "accidentally" claiming my daughter as a dependent! Any insight would be appreciated!

I have to disagree slightly regarding if this happens again, for you to file the 1040 and him to file the 1040X.

If he files the 1040 first, claiming your daughter, via efile and then you try to do the same your efile return will probably get rejected and you will still have to paper file.

Best of luck!

I believe the time table is still the same for paper returns, around six to eight weeks.

That is fine. the difference in filing a paper return is that it will take a little longer but you will be served.

Secondly, if this happens again, and you ex admits to the error, your ex should file an amended return 1040X, and you file the normal 1040 via efiling.

Normally the paper filing would take anywhere between three to four weeks but rest assured you are dealing with the IRS, you will get attention.

I would give it another week or so to get entered into the system, but you can start checking www.irs.gov, where's my refund.
Something you can do to expedite this once it is in their hands is to contact the Taxpayer Advocates http://www.irs.gov/advocate/content/0,,id=150972,00.html
only if the delay of your refund and this whole thing is causing you a hardship. It usually does.
Since the investigation over who has the right to claim this child and whatnot will take time, you may be able to file a form 911, to try to expedite your refund.

good luck

the honestly type 1040EZ, type 1040 or type 1040A have a piece to incorporate your financial corporation routing type and financial corporation account type. that's maximum suitable to incorporate a "void sparkling verify" to make beneficial the preparation is legible to IRS.
