First; I have a 1988 Jeep Grand Wagoneer - my baby!
When I hit the breaks, I am hearing a small ping-like noise from the back cargo area. It sounds almost like a spring sound. Does anyone know what this could be and if not does anyone know of any really good online Jeep Grand Wagoneer forums or troubleshooting websites?

Jesssie, this could be more than just breaks or a spring, you need to have it checked out before any further damage. Please don't go to Midas, they are more expensive than what they are worth. Call around and ask how much replace the breaks and then you will get an average on how much price they charge to replace other things as well. Use only Rebestus brake pads, I probably mispelled the repestus, and I hope that is all that is wrong. Good Luck. Call your friends on where to take it to to trust.

It is pretty old, I would have the brakes checked out for safety concerns. I have a 1993 4x4 and I had to replace all of the brake components and transmission cooler lines. They rust out. I avoid driving it on the highway.

Hey
The most important to any car are the BREAKS, If you have problems with them don't ask any questions, go immediately to the service-station
