you can get divider screens at any home store and drape pretty fabric over them and set up and area for your bed and stuff . there are a lot of ways to seperate. you can make distingushable areas by just setting up the furniture in a way that corners off an area.

Curtains would be a great idea. You can get suspension wire and mount it to the ceiling around the bed for privacy. And when you have guests come over your bed can double as a sofa. Tie-back the curtains and use lots of pillows so that it is inviting. Use a small cocktail table on castors that can be pulled up to the sofa/bed and storage cubes that double as seats will give your studio a more living room feel when needed.
Accessorize your dresser with lamps and photos for a more homey feel. And put a small bistro table in the corner to double as a eating and working space.
Another trick for small spaces is to paint one wall a slightly darker color. This gives the room more dimension and it will appear to be larger than it is. One large focal point in the room will also help the space. A fun idea would be to buy a large canvas and a few smaller canvases at Micheal's and some paint. Invite your friends over for an Art Party and get creative!

I live in a studio apt for two months a year when I am on vacation.
I say leave the bed in view!
I get inexpensive material (buck a yard type) and use it to cover the bed and the couches all in matching material. save some material for a tablecloth and for cushion and pillow covers. Draperies can also be co-ordinated. Choose your favourite color.
This gives it continuity.
Storage will be a problem.
If your bed has nice cushions on it and there is no clutter on the dresser that should not be a problem.
When people come over and yo have many guests they can use the edge of the bed for seating.
Have fun!
Hopefully there will be room underneth the bed and couches.
Low flat boxes or crates make great slide out drawers for under the bed and couches.

Laminate floor expenses a fortune and as u say rugs are no longer any good so as that old carpet has to bypass and replace with a roll end on particular grant for in keeping with risk eighty quid and unfastened setting up, or if the flooring under the carpet is floorboards then sand & paint the floor boards and upload some scatter rugs. it is the only way... ok then use the old carpet as an underlay and lay a clean carpet on good of that, get some unfastened carpet samples first to work out if the result would be too spongy.

I recommend putting a screen to hide your bed from the half of the room you want to use to entertain. that way you won't feel like you're sleeping in a box, but you'll still have some separated space in the apartment.

Put in a futon. That is the best option or a day bed. Unless you would like to use a pull out couch...
