There are several sources for car history
- State DMVs. Very slow to respond. They only have details on registrations and brands - when a car has major damage a brand is added. Also, they will only have data for one state - if the car has moved they can't help you. Fees vary by state.

- The best source is Carfax. They collect data from over 20000 sources - and still they don't have everything. However, it's the most comprehensive source.

For free - since it costs the DMVs and Carfax - nobody provides it for free.

When dealers buy Carfax reports they pay a price that allows them to redistribute the report - so ask the dealer. You'll also find thousands for free on Cars and AutoTrader.

Right subsequent door the the gasoline station freely giving loose gasoline, that's around the avenue from the grocery tale giving loose groceries. Or, there is not any location you'll be able to get a loose carfax historical past document. Some purchasers will present them on autos they have got on the market, which makes them loose to you, however the trader has paid.

Most reputable dealers will provide one if you are interested in buying from them. If it is from an individual seller, try to negotiate the cost for the report as part of the deal. "I'll by your vehicle if you will provide a clear car fax report for it first". Most motivated sellers will spend $10 if they have nothing to hide. Good Luck - Gary
