Yes you do need to get him a Boutonierre...

You need to make sure who is paying for the tickets and how you are getting there.

You should consider buying your date a boutonniere (the masculine equivalent to the corsage). Some couples coordinate the colors to each other or their outfits, so unless you plan on it being a big surprise you might go ahead and discuss this ahead of time. Also, make sure you make or order it ahead of time.. I ALWAYS forgot and had to beg at the floral counters : )

Some other things... a dress (and proper undergarments), shoes, any jewelry or stuff for your hair...

Tickets, of course...

A purse is helpful and a shawl or other sort of cover up is nice if you get stuck outside for any length of time...

If you are doing any pre- or post- partying, dining, or whatever make sure you have reservations. Lots of schools tend to have proms on the same night!

If you are a make-up sort of girl, consider how, if you will at all, bring anything with you.

The car will need gas. And your cameras film and/or fresh batteries.

And, of course... you need a smile. Have fun!

You're supposed to get him his boutonniere and as for the rest of the expenses, talk it out a couple days before the event so there's no confusion. But have fun and act like a young lady.

The guys traditionally wear a red rose in the pocket of his suite. The front pocket. You can also bring your purse with chap stick, mints, money, just any thing you need. That's about it.
