I swear fresh ground coffee tastes better than pre-ground. My husband thinks they taste the same. Is it all in my head or do they taste the same? What do ya'll think?

Fresh ground coffee does taste better and it allows you to get the strength you desire from the grind and the appropriate grind for your machine. It is also fresher than preground coffee, which makes the flavor of the coffee more rich.

I personally think they taste the same, but what you could do is a taste test. Make coffee using both ways, the same water, the same coffee maker, etc. Then do a side by side taste test. Make sure they're not marked! Drink them both black so you can really taste the coffees. Then you can both prove to yourself which one is better. You can even make a wager if you want. May I suggest the loser buy all the coffee for the entire next year?

You're right. There is nothing like fresh ground coffee. Some people just can't taste the difference in the morning.

I would say fresh ground is better, because once coffee is ground it starts to dry out which loses the rich oils in the coffee beans that contain a lot of the flavor.

I dunno... I've always heard that it tastes better too, but I can't tell the difference. :-)
