The ink may not have gotten in deep enough or they color might not have been applied evenly, the scabbing could have also pulled some of the color out if you picked at it. Usually when a tattoo starts peeling it looks a little bit lighter and greyish than it really is, so colors can seem off. Plus if your body isn't hydrated enough colors can look funny.
Just let it finish healing and then go the tattoo artist for touch-ups

Tattoos will fade with time!
Some colors almost immediately. On me, I've learned white disappears completely in only a couple of days, red fades noticeably in only a few days, but reaches a point [kinda pink] and stays that shade for years.
After many years, I have resigned to all black work, and have even had most of the color from my younger days covered with the black work.
The most important part of a tattoo is the after care. If you take care of it, especially for the first few weeks, you'll love it forever!

Wait for it to heal completely and then if you are not happy with the colour then go back to your tatooist and ask them to retouch it, they will do this for free if they are a good tattoist. Do not pick the scabs!! Doing so will seriously mess up your tattoo. When my tat was healing i thought that it looked terrible but once it had healed completely it looked perfect, it is really hard to tell until it has totally healed. Dont panic it can easily be retouched by a good tattoo artist.

first, don't worry too much!
wait until the scabs have completely fallen off and the tattoo has healed properly, before you do anything. i'd say give it about a month, then see what the colour looks like.
if the red has stayed pink, get the artist to touch it up, he should do it for free.
good luck!

Ummm your tat WILL scab! Don't listen to whoever said that. Go back and get it touched up when it heals, I did the same thing with the red in my tattoo,it fades every so often so i'll get it touched up to keep the color looking fresh an nice!

I had a tattoo about 12 years ago and none of the colour has faded. I'd go back to your tattoist and show him. He will have to retouch it up once it has healed. Also put total sun block on it in the summer it helps keep the colour from fading.

like everyone says, it's just the red fading and healing. i have some red flames and they were pink for a few weeks and then one day they just turned red! kinda scared me at first, but my inker said that would happen.

do NOT evaluate your tattoo until 30 days have gone by or it will drive you insane. trust me.
its not pink. Its hard to see the red through layers of dead skin. let your tat heal and peel. (that would be a cool name for a shop huh? heal and peal..hehe..)
:)

it sounds as though it will all go pink as oppose tored and even out buit that may take a few days, if it doesnt, go back and complain. The skin will be new and may not be even in all areas, wait until its healed fortst before taking any action.

It will probably stay pink. Its all to do with the mix of the colours in the ink the tattooist used and the pigment in your skin. Go back when its healed and ask them to retouch it.
