I'm 5'10" tall and I weigh 185. I'm a 37 year old Mom to 2 year old twins. I'm in a size 12. Before I had the boys I weighed 150. I do water aerobics 3 times a week (really bad knees) and I try to do Pilates at least 2 times a week. I eat ok...not overly healthy...but not overly junkie either. My husband is away (he's in the military) and I want to look great when he comes home.
What is a safe and fast way for me to knock off 20 to 30 pounds?

No eating disorders please!

Thanks!!

Stick to a 1200-1500 calories a day diet. Try to spread these calories out into 6 meals. Do your exercises and if you can, swim as much as possible. Swimming is one of the best exercises there is. If you can swim a few laps 2 times a week plus your water aerobic/ Pilate's and eat within the calorie range you will lose around 2-4 lbs per week. If you lose more than that per week you will mess up your metabolism and gain it back fast when you get off of the diet.
Eat a lot of veggies/fruits and drink lots of water.
And thank you and your husband very much, for the sacrifices you give, so we can be free.

Drink lots of water, do 30 minutes of cardio a day and don't eat late in the evening. Also you need to limit your snacking. My mom had twin boys and followed this routine and it really worked for her. I hope this helps and good luck! Remember, your husband loves you no matter what :)

Two things:

Check out Bill Phillip's book Body for Life. It's got great information on eating well and exercising.

Try a good workout dvd, like Turbo Jam. They have low-impact options that I think would be suitable for your knees. And the workouts are GREAT. Lots of fun.

Good luck!!

You didn't mention when he is coming back, but I would not lose that many pounds in a short period of time because it is not healthy. What you can do is tone up what you have already by concentrating on cardio and light weight training.I am sure he will love you no matter which way you look.Good luck, and I hope he returns safely.

One of the healthiest ways to lose weight is to follow the "Diabetic Diet" (whether you have diabetes or not).
I promise you will not be hungry, you will be eating frequently and it is very adaptable to any lifestyle.
(And drink LOTS of water --- at least 12 glasses a day.)
For more information, visit the Diabetes Association or make an appointment with a Clinical Dietician.

Portion control. Stay away from the "white" foods, sugar, flour, etc. Exercise daily, drink lots of water, stay away from soft drinks, no candy or sweets and watch your salt intake. Walking is great. Hope this helps.

decrease your caloric intake and increase your exercise. Cut out starchy white foods, cut back on snacks, fatty foods. Eat everything fresh - nothing prepackaged...drink lots of water.
