This happens to me all the time! I've gotten to the point where I just don't give a crap. Especially at the end of the day. I refuse to allow anyone to squeeze between me and someone else, because it is always me who winds up having to contort myself into a weird position so that the other person can fit. I've taken to just sitting in between two seats and placing my bag right next to me. If someone tries to get me to move I'll start babbling at them in one of the foreign languages I speak and pretend I'm a tourist.
I've also noticed that they like to shove their way in front of you to get a seat. One time, when I was in severe pain thanks to a back injury, I maneuvered myself so that I was right in front of the doors and would get a seat. Some older Chinese woman elbowed me in the ribs and practically FLEW into the seat that I had my eye on. Evil cow. I called her the "c" word, but I guess she didn't understand me because she had no reaction.

this is very true! i take the subway every day & wonder the same thing. luckily my asian friends have explained the whole lack of personal space in asian countries since it's usually so crowded there thing to me. it's jsut a different culture. they aren't being rude, even tho it seems that way at times.

I think it best to say all Asians are not alike. Thai and Japanese people are very respectful. Chances are you are referring to Koreans, Chinese and Indians who are more aggressive, rude and disrespectful. Next time you are waiting in line, see who cuts in front of you. It will be an old Chinese lady probably..

if you travel in asia, especially china, india, you'll find there's no such thing as personal space.it's very crowded so every spot counts.they don't see it as being rude, just their way of life.
if you took the most crowded train or bus you've ever see in the u.s. you'd have to double the number to get an average train car in india or china.

It's only fair since Asians have smaller asses than you people. We get pissed off when we see fat people taking up 3 seats on the subway so of course we squeeze in when we can.

Because they want to be like you, they want to touch you and maybe get some of your talent, beauty and intelligence.Since the world, apparently, turns all around you and your experiences and observations on the train.
