Hey everyone, My fiance and I are getting married in a church, and we are looking for a song to sing before the prayer portion of the ceremony. I absolutely love the song christian song "How Beautiful". However, the song contains a verse that mentions "the bride who waits for her groom with his light in her eyes"..Although we definitely consider ourselves Christian, we are not virgins by any means, and we didn't wait for each other. And I would guess that mostly everyone in attendance would guess that we didn't. It is important to us to have a christian song, but we don't want to look like hypocrites!!! It is also important to add the alcohol will be flowing at the reception..Do y'all think this song is appropriate, or do you have any other suggestions?!? Thanks!!

To be honest, at weddings, i cannot remember one that i heard that can stick out in my mind. most of the guests will be focusing on you- not the music. And anyone who fine tooth combs the music has way too much time on their hands and isn't there for you- they are just there to judge.
So if you truly love that song than by all means have it. Most couples of today do not wait until marriage to have sex, but no one has the right to judge them or make them feel bad about it. Just enjoy the day, have it the way you want and forget about anyones criticisms.

You can actually choose any music you like. After all, you're not marrying in a church that might have restrictions on secular music. Do you have live music or are you using a boom box or iPod? This will make a difference. If you're using the boom box option or iPod, you can use anything that's ever been recorded. If you're using live musicians, you'd better consult with them about what they already know. Pchelbel's Canon in D is popular for weddings. JS Bach's Jesu, Joy of Man's Desiring is very pretty, dignified, and a bit less commonly used. The Beatles wrote some very pretty love songs that would work nicely, such as Something or Here, There, and Everywhere. Most cultures have a traditional tune or two. I was piped up the aisle to a tune called Highland Wedding. Good luck choosing a tune! There are literally thousands of good tunes to choose from. I'm sure you'll find something you love.

If you feel that the song doesnt fit completely, then go with another song. How about Grow old along with me? By Mary chapin carpenter, I just sang that in a wedding last year for the first time. t here were alot of tears flowing that day. It is a beautiful and well put song.

Well, if you don't feel the song fits, then pick another one. However, just my opinion, I totally don't get that the line "the bride who waits for her groom with his light in her eyes" means virginity. I honestly don't think many people will notice that this line is even there, or that it might be inappropriate.

I don't think that your guests are going to notice one line of the entire song and think it inappropriate. If that's the song you want, then go for it. However, make sure to check with your priest to make sure that secular music is permitted; some churches only allow hymns to be played, and even Christian pop/rock/etc. songs are considered secular. It's just a song. Your friends and family will be focused on you and the day and having fun and being happy. Not scrutinizing your lyrics. If you love the song, sing the song.

the song doesn't have to be your story exactly anyways.
if people are there to judge maybe they shouldn't be there! i'm pretty sure they're gonna come to support you not condemn you!
go ahead and play the song.
might I add though - instrumental songs are beautiful as well!

I heard "The Gift" used during a summer wedding. I didn't hear any complaints about hearing "Winter snow is falling down" while the air conditioner was blasting.
If you like the song, use it.

Very very wonderful song.....but i dont know...If you did not wait for him....then i dont really know that it is appropriate. But if you really like that song then Go for it!
