At 40 stone you are very overweight that is probably what is making your back hurt. Speak to your GP about getting help with your diet and do a little bit of walking. Once you got the diet right and loose a bit of weight it will be easier to walk and you can start to walk longer distances. Slowly does it as they say.

I used to suffer badly with back problems but after loosing 3 stone and building some muscle in my back my pain is a thing of the past so there is hope.

Try light stretching to start building and endurance. Also, a weak abs contribute to backpain. Try sucking in your stomach do and hold for about 10 seconds. You can do this while sitting down. Do every day, and start taking short brief walks, start walking 15 minutes a day or what your body can handle. Increase everyday by a minute till you have reached 45 minutes. Then start increasing your stride, eventually the back pain will be a thing of the past. It is babys steps dear!

First of all you need to find out exactly what the back pain is. Once you know that then you need to make the muscles round that area strong. Get an assessment from a physiotherapist. If your British ask your doctor to refer you to one, or get one privately. After that you could see a sports massage therapist and get some treatment and exercises from them. And in the mean time use a Tens machine to alleviate the pain so you can so some gentle exercises. Sorry I know some of this costs money.

40 stone needs to be done slowly cos of your heart so you must do this through a professional dietitian. You must be tired in the extreme.

I also suffer from back pain. I don;t walk hard, but I do walk. Walking helps strengthen your body. You only have to walk 30 minutes a day 3X/week. You can also break up the 30 minutes by walking three 10 minute sessions. Walking also strengthens your heart and bones. I too thought that I had to work out like Rocky, but you don't. Just try it and take care!

Do you have access to a swimming pool? Swimming and water exercises are great for back pain. Check with gyms in your area to see if they offer any water exercise classes. A 'restorative yoga' class may be helpful to you too. Your doctor or physical therapist may be able to offer a recommendation. Exercising on a stationary recumbent bike is also a good exercise if the impact of walking is painful for you.

I've heard lots of people recommend the type of shoes that have a spring in the heel for back pain aggravated by impact, I believe they're called z-coils. I haven't tried them personally, though. I just go for good athletic shoes with good support and add a gel insole (the kind with a heel cup & arch support) to them for extra cushioning.

I highly recommend the book "Back Care Basics" by Mary Pullig Schatz, MD. It helps you assess your back & posture and provides recommendations for gentle exercises to correct your posture. I have a herniated disk in my low back and also have neck problems, both of which made walking or any other impact exercise painful. Doing the posture correction exercises over time helped both to improve to a point where I can now walk for miles without pain, so long as I keep my posture good and wear good supportive shoes.

Best Wishes!

Walking "hard" would exacerbate the back problem. You should focus on stretches and light excesses that would strengthen your lower back, and then start a light cardio workout that would not cause the back problems to get worse. It could also be that your back problem is DUE to the fact that you are overweight,so I would consult with a nutritionist first and work on a diet, and then consult with an excersise physiologist.Good luck.

See a sports chiropractor or physical therapist and get whatever physical rehab you can get. Then, begin a slow, conservative core strengthening and cardio program with a qualified personal trainer.

I do this kind of work all the time, and I can relieve and cure 90% of back pain with intelligent exercise.

Does he act like he's in soreness? Does he wimper or cry out in case you touch him everywhere? Does he act depressed in any respect? If he's playing, then it doesnt sound like he's in soreness. The poison would have affected his nervous equipment and or his concepts. yet this doesnt mean he would desire to get a dying sentence. If he's energetic and shows a will to stay, then love him for what he's. He would never get from now on advantageous.
