The pains started last night and come and go, sometimes they are so severe that i double over in pain and have to lay there until they subside. I have never been in this much pain before and am not sure whether it is worth it to go to the hospital or not?

Appendicitis is a possibility as it sometimes presents with lower left quadrant pain that slowly progresses to the lower right quadrant.

Nobody should have to go through that kind of pain, go to the hospital. It could be a kidney or gall stone. My friend had cysts on her ovaries that burst and they were very, very painful. Regardless, you should go to the doctor.
