So all I want for a wedding gift is a party boat. I am not into big weddings either so I made a deal with my parents. They bought me a party boat and we are going to get married on it. We have a beautiful camp, so we are going to invite all our friends and family up and have the whole walking down the aisle thing except we will get on the boat. We each get to bring 3 ppl. I'm bringing my parents and my best friend... we'll get married on the water and then come back to shore and have our reception!! Very low key attire, I'm thinking for me just a white cotton sundress, and for him khakis and a white shirt untucked!!! hair down a wavy with some daisys tied into it

sound tacky or good?

If the reception after your wedding is just for the bridal party on the boat, it sounds quite intimate and lovely, but if you plan on having more people on shore waiting for your return for the reception to start, it might be a good idea to spend a little bit of money for a wireless microphone able to transmit up to 300 feet, so that the ceremony can be enjoyed by the folks on shore -- otherwise, they just get to watch for a half hour while the boat floats off, you and your fiancee standing there and saying something every now and then, and coming back in... kind of boring, unless they're in on what's happening. *shrug*

The wedding part sounds very nice. It sounds really romantic specially if it were to take place right at sunset.

But about your parents buying you a party boat, isnt that kinda expensive?

It's your wedding Honey! I am getting married in less than 6 weeks, my future husband and I have decided we are getting married in a local park with my uncle who is a minister and my parents and his, along with his good friend who is my other uncle and my grandmother. Then we are taking off for our honeymoon, and 3 weeks later we will be having our wedding reception for all of our other close friends and reletives to join in our happiness.

I like it.

May I add an alternative?

Let the bride arrive ON the boat.

Get married at the DOCK, so all your friends and relatives can see.

have a party on the camp

Go away on theboat.

Congrats and good luck

I think it sounds great. I agree that small weddings are the way to go and having it be casual like that would be great. Good luck and hope you have beautiful weather for your wedding day!

Sounds great. Very simple, but classy. 2 of our nieces are getting married soon, and every so often they call my wife and vent about the problems, decisions, etc. It's great that you know what you want and are doing it. Good luck to you

Perfect! And go barefoot! Seriously....like a wedding on a beach! Paint your toe nails pretty and wear an pretty dangly ankle bracelet...or if you want to wear shoes, go with strappy sandles or flip flops!
