Now, you really mean fourth cousin? That means the relative you have in common is your Great, Great, Great grandmother/father? Yeah, that's fine. I bet that people would be shocked to know how many others are related to that degree.
It's amazing that you know your fourth cousin to be family. Most people don't know no shares a great, great, great grandmother or father with them.
To the person who said 20th Cousin -- I think we'd all pretty much be at least 20th cousins of everyone -- somewhere, in 20 generations (thats what, 400 years!?!?) our bloodlines cross. Just becaus they haven't been identified to you doesn't mean that the relationship isn't there.
Learn geneology before you condemn. I bet someone in your family has married someone at least as close as a 5th cousin.

There's nothing wrong with dating a 4th cousin. Incest is only when you date a cousin or closer as the old saying goes. And by cousin it's meant a child by one of your parent's siblings. And no, there wouldn't be anything wrong with your children at that. There's a big genetic gap between you. Keep in mind a fourth cousin is a cousin who has a great-great grandparent in common with you, so there's very liottle genetic similiarities.

I think you should take your time to think this out. I would STRONGLY ADVISE AGAINST dating your 4th cousin. It is sick and it is just not right. For your own good, do not date a 4th cousin...It is sick
I would not date anyone unless they were second cousin or better.
Here are a few words for you to live by...sick-o :
Incest, its a game the whole family can play.
If you can't keep it in your pants, keep it in the family.
Why go across the street when you can go across the hall.
4th cousin is still a ... you guessed it...still a cousin.
You are sick!

You understand that your 4th cousin means you share a common great grandparent on one side about 4 or 5 generations away? It s fine. People use to marry cousins & first cousins As people stated above most of us don t know our 4th or 5th great grandparents to know who are 4th cousin even are.

You should ask her out. I think this is a great idea. You are already in good with the family, apparently not as well as you would like. If one of you got sick and needed an organ the other could provide because same DNA. Which leads into the topper, you could rape her without a condom and they couldn't blame it on you because NO DNA. You are a smart man a step above the game. You will make the right decision

although the chances of mental retardation in children is small because of the distance in bloodline it's still family that you grew up with so i don't think it would be okay and i seriously doubt your family would accept that.
