What if I slip up and break one or two? What if I live my whole life without breaking a single law and then on my deathbed, I covet something that belongs to my neighbor or tell a lie? The more I think about it, it seems God should have made an all together different way to come to Him - like saving me by something easier to do, like just believing. I don't believe anyone could obey all of the commandments of God for his whole life. Somebody help me out here!

If you accept the premise that you must obey the 10 Commandments in order to get into Heaven, you must also accept the punishments that God prescribes for breaking each one: Death.

So don't worry about what's gonna happen on your death bed. It's very unlikely that you will make it that far. I bet you'll probably be stoned in a public square by sometime next week.

the 1st 3 commandments are to worship no different God, save holy God's day, and not take the call of God in ineffective, so the atheist is going to probable be breaking those on a familiar foundation. yet while the Atheist have been a real do-gooding bleeding heart type that helped the homeless and the unwell, etc etc, i've got faith the Atheist might nonetheless get into heaven. The reward in heaven may well be constrained with the help of no longer being forgiven for the sins dedicated, yet there may well be eternal life. besides the fact that the probabilities of an atheist residing those Godly values are slender. they only don't think all that crap, why be a mom Theresa or an Albert Schweitzer. It would not make any sense to an atheist.

You cannot get to heaven by obeying the Ten Commandments because you cannot obey the Ten Commandments. You can only get to heaven through the cross and the blood of Jesus. When God gave the law he knew that mankind would not keep it. This is why Jesus came into the world, to shed his blood for sinners, to do what man could not do which is to atone for his own sin. It is important to keep God's commandments as best as you can because both the Old and the New Testaments tell us to do so. God's law was not nullified by the crucifixion and the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Jesus merely showed us a better way. All you have to do is believe in the atoning death of Jesus Christ and turn your life over to him and you are saved. It is an operation of the heart, however, and not the head. Mumbling words that mean nothing to your heart will not get you saved. God is not stupid.

When you make a mistake and sin, all that is necessary to do is repent and confess your sin to God and he is just to forgive it. He will not forgive repeated sinning in the same sin, however. Remember that every sin has its consequences. It may be forgiven, but there is still a penalty to be paid for it. Salvation is not a license to sin.

If you lived a life without sin by not breaking the 10 Commandments, then you would go to heaven.

But you have disobeyed the 10 Commandments somewhere or somehow, so? The wages of sin is death.

But there is Good News. God made a Way. Jesus Christ shed His Own Blood for the remission of our sins. All we need do is recognize we have sinned/ rebelled against God. We have fallen short of Gods Glory. Confess Jesus Christ, the Son of the Living God, Lord of our life. Believe in our heart He raised from the dead. He bore our sins on the cross, not His Own. Jesus being without sin, death could not keep Him in the Grave. God raised Him from the dead.

Jesus is the one who was tempted like us, though never sinned against Father God. So, through believing in Him, we receive eternal life.

By the sin of the first Adam, we all have sin nature & sin & die. By one mans righteousness, we also may become His Righteousness and inherit everlasting life.

Your absolutly correct about this, One canot get ot heaven by keeping the ten Commandments. but lets assume for a moment that it is required you keep the Law, How would you do?
Have you ever lied?
have you ever stolen something?
have you ever looked with lust?
have you ever used Gods name in vain?

if you have said yes to these or say yes to breaking any of the Commandments, then the quest to get to heaven is no logner possible. by your own admsission your a lying theiving blapshemous adulturer at heart. you may say "i will just try to keep the commandments in the future", but think about it, is it not true true that the best of us have lied, stolen, lusted, hated, failed to love God above all else, and failed to love our neighbor as ourselves? sure it is, so how then can we live a Good life if we have already sinned against God? at best, we are reformed liers and theives and adulterers at heart. The penalty for sin is hell. the Good news is that christ died for you. you broke Gods law and jesus took the punishment on your behalf. and Now, if you will repent (turn from sin) and trust fully in Christ, you will be forgiven and granted the gift of everlasting life.
God bless

Only 144,000 will go to heaven it is in the book of Revelation. Nobody can tell you that you are part or no part of the 144,000 because only you know. Not everybody can obey the 10 commandments because we are all imperfect. If you would read more of the bible you find this out instead of asking others just trust and rely on God.

Well.. your thinking is exactly why God sent Jesus.

Jesus saves us because God knows that we can't possibly live up to his standards - including the 10 Commandments.

Be clear... accepting Jesus still means we need to follow the 10 Commandments. The good news is that we still go to heaven even when we fail.

fyi.. this is why the bible is refered to as the 'good news'.

We are guilty of committing all of them. The law condemns us, Jesus forgives.
The 10 commandments never tell us we're doing right, kind of like a cop never pulls you over to tell you that you are an outstanding citizen.

You must practice the first Commandment above all: Love the Lord thy God, with thy whole heart and they whole soul, then practice the second Commandment about loving your neighbor. If you truly do these things the rest will fall into place. (Loving someone also means you will do what they request you to do)

"What if I slip up and break one or two?"

Wow, you seem to have a lot of anxiety, for a saintly being. Perhaps, a non-sinning round of masturbation will calm you down so that you might continue your life of perfection.
